Bet me a beer?

Statistically speaking then Katla should erupt soon. Whats your cut off point for the bet eg if Katla erupts in 6 months, does that count as a 'not done yet' ?
Ok I will say six is good for the non activity timeline..
This might just be the time it changes its pattern..

Take a look at ejya from katla cam

www.ruv.is...

I know it's dark but what is that very dark spot on the upper left of the screen?

It looks like a dark plume but we won't be able to tell til daybreak.

Yep,
A bit strange what we see on the katla webcom up left corner.

Also it is still blowing.
You can see it on the two cams

eldgos.mila.is...
eldgos.mila.is...

When we can peek between the clouds.

For the moment all black again although.

I get confused about the 'Katla' cam and its orientation. All I know is that it looks like a black plume...and we have not seen one in that location before, so who knows? Be interested to see what it looks like in the morning.

The tremors sure don't seem to be letting up though!

Cripes, just logged in and saw Katla cam - sure looks like a plume - either that or it's something stuck to the lens!!

It's maintaining a very regular shape over time, hard to believe it's a plume just yet?

I think that is ice on the lens, I sure hope it is

because if that is a plume someone is in trouble

BTW excellent show on valahnuk cam

I've taken to "drawing" on my monitor (albeit in small bits of tape!) and that black mass isn't changing shape or moving - must be on cam
or a very very consistently discharging vent (unlikely).

It looks like the doom is unfurling. Is Katla erupting? certainly looks like it.

Then again, the webcam may be pointed at eyeballsocketjelloskull.

Yeah, it might be something on the lens.

I decided that it is a UBSOTL

unidentified black smudge
on the lens

Vala sure is blowing black today!!

Two distinctive plumes from Val cam - one steam and one much darker, heavier. Wish they'd get Poro cam working - am dying to see what changes there might be on the glacier!

I have the same feeling we seeing 2 vents on the Val cam.
If it's the case it could mean the pressure inside the volcano is still building up and it just can't vent through one column anymore.

On Hvol, still too cloudy to have a clear view, it appears the column is going up quite high.

I think THIS volcano is possibly more dangerous that Katla. I also posted this on Volcano Watch 2010. History clip:

"Iceland also has a lot of fluorine, which contributed to the deadly effects of 1783's Laki eruption. Fluorine-laced gas killed people as far away as England and led to a surge in chronic illness. Fluoridosis killed between half and three-quarters of Iceland's farm animals."
