i know alot of your volcanoes are inactive.. but you've had your share of earthquakes..
like that one on your east coast of the north island that levelled a whole city.. forgot the name..

whats the vibe down there?

ps - love your country.. was there for awhile awhile ago.

Hey mate, well I'm actually from the little city of Newcastle and apparently there have been a few tremors over the past months/ years.

it leveled my local pub too when it was hit all those years ago.

but other then a few slight soil movements all up and down the n.s.w its been pretty quite around this side of the globe.

Now the thing about Katla is that yes 75% chance of eruption, but it has taken upwards of TWO YEARS. So never know.

There is no real evidence of that at this point, only anecdotal info, a moderate sized earthquake and a webcam shot which is indeterminate as to if its ash or snow.
Lets hope not and not jump the gun either.

I could be wrong, but I think what you're seeing is the differences in contrast between snow and soil at the snow line... clouds are still too low.

You're right, it is hard to tell, overall though it looks to have calmed down alot since yesterday. As the sun rises and if the clouds dissipate we'll get to see more clearly hopefully. Yesterdays view was fantastic.
