Hungary's ruling Socialists suffer stinging defeat

news.yahoo.com

Fidesz's landslide victory had been expected by pollsters and its result of 52.8 percent in the first round translated into 206 seats for now in the 386-seat legislature.

The governing Socialists, whom many Hungarians blame for their dismal economy, were far behind with 19.3 percent and 28 seats, followed closely by the far-right, anti-Gypsy Jobbik with 26 seats and 16.7 percent — over three times as much as any other far-right party since the country's return to democracy from communism...

So now the Far-right party has won 17% of the overall vote in the Hungarian elections today. This is a huge win for the radical right. These people are basically Nazi's. The center-right party has won taken the parliament with the Socialists taking a serious beating.

This helps to fuel the fear of a rise of the ultra-right in europe.

They are practically Nazis?

So they are conducting mass genocide as we speak of minority groups?

Are they plotting to overthrow Europe?

This is why I take your comment as an attempt at demonizing people who have a differing political view.

How about we leave the "Nazi" term for people who actually conduct genocide and hard line political oppression?

That would keep the term "Nazi" meaningful. Instead of watering it down by calling everyone we disagree with that word.

Just because you are a Nazi does not mean you are out killing Jews and trying to take over Europe. It just means you could have a political platform that is similar to the Nazi's. If you would prefer me to call them Fascists that's fine too.

I think there is a huge misunderstanding of Right and Left either that or I don't understand it correctly... Because I agree these people have a lot in common with the Nazi's, Anti Semantic and Anti Gypsies... However I wouldn't label these people far right...

My understanding of far right means someone in favor of a small government, low taxes, personal liberty etc. Much like the US founding fathers.

The far right in Europe seems to mean socialist with nationalist values (which is why they tend to be racist and militaristic). In Europe Left- Socialist/Communist & Right- Militaristic/National Socialist. At least that is my understanding... However I don't think anyone should be too worried unless they start putting stars on people. Remember the Left is just as guilty for committing atrocities against humanity as the "Right" is.

www.timesonline.co.uk...

Calling them "Nazis" might be going a bit far (and reminds me of Godwins law) but, they aren't exactly the world's most loving ,accepting people.

Thats fiscally right....when the right/left ideals are discussed, they are talking social issues more than fiscal

Socially,
far right = facist theocracy
far left = tolerant hippy.

Fiscally, the far right would have a near anarchy style setup/mob rule, a far left would be socialism
