These guys suck any way you slice it...

If they are liberal, they sure aren't very good at it, just like their alleged Christian faith.

What has a party affiliation from several years ago, have to do with his, and his cult's, behaviour anyway?

Republican, Democrat, what ever... His hateful vitriol is a con, he and his family of lawyers, use to make money. Religion to sucker in the rubes to be skinned... ...and lawyers to sue those of us who let our anger get the better of us.

At a time when mainstream media outlets are trying to smear tea party members as right wing "haters" and racest, etc......the existence of a truely hate filled radical group like westboro being from the far LEFT does make a difference.

Anger over the lack of representative government is a GOOD thing. Keeps TYRANY at bay, unless the tyrany is politically correct in this modern age.

Example, many see the vile "sea warrior" nutters as HERO's, yet they are no diffrent than westboro......

Conversely, anti-abortion protesters are considered "evil".

Save the whales....kill the babies.....pure insanity.

Judging by the ideologies listed here, I would place the WBC under 'Fundamentalism.'

Fundamentalism is an extreme form of Moral Conservatism.

It is a movement to return to more strict adherence to founding principles, usually religious.

Fundamentalists believe their cause to have grave and even cosmic importance. They see themselves as protecting not only a doctrine, but also a vital principle, and a way of life and of salvation. Community, centered upon a clearly defined religious way of life in all of its aspects, is the promise of fundamentalist movements.

Unfortunately for you, this falls to the right of the political matrix. The absolute opposite being libertarian socialism or anarchy.

...but hey, who needs sociological and political science experts to tell us an appropriate way to judge left or right when we have Ann Coulter and Michael Weiner(Savage).

calling yourself a democrat doesn't make you one if you do what WBC, they don't even support anything the democratic party does.

only if the anger is useful and has some outlet that leads to betterment of society and people.
i haven't seen that from a lot of the angry people, only lashing out at those that their masters call "socialists".

the insanity is that you think that was an argument.

This seems to be an emerging talking point on the right to claim that all extremist hate groups are somehow left-wing. Glenn Beck started doing this when he called Nazis a form of liberals.

This is an idiotic and entirely politically motivated strategy. I am surprised that nobody has pointed out the "conservative" nature of Radical Islam as a rebuttal. The WBC are not in any way shape or form liberals, but I'm not at all about to blame all conservatives for their horrible actions either.

These are extremists, by their nature they are somehow not acceptable by society. We, the majority, do not have to answer for them because they have to answer for themselves. There are nuts both sides of the spectrum, always have been always will be.

Westboro hate Group are Liberal Democrats

www.anncoulter.com

The cult's leader/father is Fred Phelps, who calls America a "sodomite nation of flag-worshipping idolaters." Since you won't read it anyplace else, Phelps has run for public office five times -- as a Democrat.

The Fred Phelps cult members travel around the country and hold vile signs outside military funerals because they believe that the reason American soldiers die in wars is that God hates the U.S.A. because it tolerates homosexuals.

Using the racist Neo Con Ann Coulter as a reliable source? Foul up of epic preportion.

How dare anyone try and say the Westboro Group is liberal.

How would you like it if they protested your kid's funeral?

To politically define this group decrees them as ultra far right wing radical terrorist group.

Freedom of Speech does not give anyone carte blanche to cut or demonize someone else for nothing more then entertainment value.

Next time one of their family dies let's go protest the funeral so they can see how vile and hateful they are. What's good for the goose is good for the gander more then applies here.

*****NOTICE******
The previous posting in this thread that has since been edited for what, I have no clue but it was not to be taken or intended as an attack upon the membership here, The Above Netweork, LLC Family of Websites or any of the sponsors or retailers here. The post was to attack directly The Westboro Baptist Chruch but not it's membership but their leadership. I tell it like it is and how things really are and will not sugarcoat anything for anyone.

I find this claim rather dubious given Ann Coulters track record of insanity. But i wouldn't be surprised if they actually were liberal democrats of some sort.

Take atheism for example. Atheistic Ideals have been used in the Far-right Ideology of Ayn Rand and Have been used in the Far-left Ideology of Karl marx. Some of the most left wing people i have ever met were christian while others were Far right.

Still, westboros actions to me seem more like the actions of a right-wing hate group.

Well.....Their cult certainly isn't liberal. LOL. By the way, not all Democrats are liberal.
So, the title of your thread, in and of itself, is fallacious.

Phelps has frequently run for public office -- for governor in 1990, '94, and '98, for the Senate in '92 -- always losing the primaries by a landslide. Because of their years as loyal Democrats, the Phelpses have even been invited to -- and attended -- both of Clinton's inaugurations. They protested at the second one. But Phelps' campaign against homosexuality actually began in earnest just before the 1992 campaign, when politicians, especially Democrats, began to openly court gay voters.

It doesn't matter whether this group is democrat or republican or liberal or conservative. Why do we even need these labels? All that matters is that these people are horrible and vile. Labeling everyone as either this or that is starting to get out of hand and stupid. If someone does something bad, just call it out without throwing out all of the affiliations. Who cares if anyone in the westboro hate group are democrats?

All I have to say about any of this...

The day Fred Phillips is told to shut up from the court system, we need a new government.

The day any American is told to restrict their speech on religious, political, or just damn near anything else reason; WE NEED A NEW GOVERNMENT.

This bickering going on is entertaining, but we fought a war over our basic rights. I will not easily give them up. Every American, say what you want, I'll laugh at you and with you, BUT, I will defend your right to speak.

I agree in principle. But there has to be a way to stop them for tormenting people at funerals. This is way beyond free speech--I've heard that they are usually 1000 feet but that's still too close. There has to be a way to stop these people from harrasment without giving up any of our rights.

I fully agree, labels pit us against one another and do nothing constructive for anything or anyone.

Screw the labels. I'm an individual and not a label. You put labels on food and toys and junk like that and not on people. Yet another avenue that can be used to keep us controlled and infighting.

1 Star for you for showing and expressing intelligence.

does it matter if they consider themselves liberals or conservatives?

it means nothing to the liberal or conservative movement.

What a sad argument.

In other words. He can call himself whatever he likes. Clearly the Democratic party does not represent, in any way, shape or form, what this man advocates. No political party in this country represents this man, as far as I know. Unless maybe skinheads are a political party...

So why would that also not apply to Christianity??? As much as you hate Christian groups and you denounce them, couldn't the same be said about the church - that Christianity does not represent in any way, shape or form what this man advocates?

nobody is attacking christianity and im sure nobody here blames christianity for fred phelps he is just twisting the christian ideology around like hitler did with the aryan race, the swastica and, christianity as well
and just like the illuminati twist around the ideaology of the freemasons and like satanist have defiled the pentagram the truth is if there is truth in the world is that most things are not what they seem

fred phelps is someon i would compare to hitler, stalin, jim jones, etc

the fact that this man is able to do this is proof that some laws need to be updated at the least i love free speech but in this case it is just getting ridiculous
i say change the law a tad bit so that people like fred phelps cant do it but dont change it so much that it doesnt exist anymore

you know what im saying?

You are completely correct. However, Christianity has been twisted to meet the wants and needs of the powers that be for 1700 years. You are certainly right in regards to the Masons and the pentagram as well. It has all been distorted to make people think things that are not factual.

Most people do not even know the difference between a normal pentagram and an inverted one, just like most people do not know the difference between a right handed and a left handed swatstica. Yes, there is a difference!! The illuminatti would have you think differently though. They want constant disharmony between spiritual ideologies and they have been very successful at obtaining it.
