I can not believe people still take Gingrich seriously. This is the guy that helped spear head the shut down of the US government because he was snubbed by the president during a plane flight.

His own party was ready to throw him under the bus and vote him out as Speaker in 1997. At least twenty Republicans joined together to attempt a coup. They were going to force him to resign or vote to vacate the chair. Gingrich was also fined $300,000 by the house ethics committee.

The guy is a power hungry radical. He is a red meat conservative that wants to push an agenda serving the rich at the expense of every one else.

Lincoln was arguably the most radical president in U.S. history. It's interesting that Lincoln is one of President Obama's heroes.

Jefferson should also be pretty high up on the radical list.

And of course, there was FDR, who saved us from the first Great Depression. He stimulated the economy through massive federal spending and he also passed Social Security. I do think Roosevelt is one of the president's role models. He's also one of mine.

Newt just knows that "radical" is a word that makes conservatives pee in their pants and pony up their inheritance to pay for political campaigns. He also knows if you say "Jesus" a couple of times in a speech then that makes you a man divinely ordained by God.

The most radical thing that has happened in the last couple of years is the Republicans have had their asses kicked to the curb by the American people and they just can't stand it.

So they think if they say the same old things in the same old way they have since the Neocons took over the party that will somehow miraculously change everything for them.

I think maybe the young and the liberals have underestimated just how much some people hate and fear even the word "change." Newt and his fellow reactionaries know just how to play on that fear. Who knows, maybe Newt will rise again in the GOP.

I hardly think he is acting in the common mans interests despite the constant charges of socialism. Socialism is another example of what I was referring to; a socialist who passes a bill which helps the "capitalist pigs" insurance companies??? hardly a socialist... it seems many of you (strongly anti Obama) do not have his ideology pegged at all.

IMO Elitist is not someone who owns 1 house, 1 car and takes out student loans as Obama has, Elitist by all reasonable terms would be somebody who has means that are far and above the standard of a normal person. I own 2 cars and have a share in 4 pieces of property, MORE than the President in regards to personal property. However

Exactly. For whatever reason, whenever I call out BS....I'm automatically called a liberal or progressive.

I don't consider myself to be anything anymore politically. I think both Libertarians AND Progressives have some wonderful ideas. And in reality...this is what the Republican Party and the Democratic Party should be.

I'm tired of corporate politicians. Everyone wants to think it's the unions...but the unions don't have the power that people seem to think. Union membership is down drastically and has been under attack since Reagan.

Unions are not responsible for the mass exodus of jobs this country has seen...it's the lack of enforcement of anti-trust laws and terrible trade policies that have caused it. If it weren't for unions...much of what is left of our manufacturing base would be gone. We simply cannot compete with slave labor when our tariffs average 2 percent. It's common sense.

People complain about the costs of vehicles...which are crazy high...but that is because our standard of living is deteriorating.

We HAVE to protect our economy. Tell your congressing that we need to reform our trade laws to make small businesses in our country competitive again. (I may look like a skipping record with this as I constantly bring it up in many of my posts...but damnit we have to do it!!) People don't seem to see how dire this is that it be done.

When our standard of living goes up....many of the problems we are facing now will start to go away. It's the only way to get our economy back on the right track IMO....oh and we need to reign in the federal reserve...end the wars...campaign finance reform...etc.

Honestly I don't think we can do anything until we have campaign finance reform.

We simply cannot continue on this road.
