You do have a valid point that there has been a number of Apocalypse scares over the past 2000 years. But looking at Matthew 24 there seems to be a
detail or two completed that simply wasn't there before. And if you throw the curse of Malachi into the mix it would seem that the time to worry
about is the next 20 years.
To start with Matthew 24-14.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Taken literally that couldn't have been fulfilled until the 1900's. It took modern technology to map out the distant islands and regions of the
earth where people live. Borneo, Australia, the wilds of the Amazon to mention a few of those places.
Then there is verse 15.
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him
That verse requires a Jewish temple be standing on the Temple Mount where the Islamic Dome of the Rock currently is. A Jewish nation currently
This verse being fulfilled is much closer than it has in the past 1900 years.
Then you take that generation statement in verse 34 then you can only assume that this Apocalypse is going to be over with in a few years.
Then there is the little matter of the curse of Malachi. Here is the verse from Malachi 4.
5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a
And in Matthew 11 this is what Jesus Christ said about John the Baptist.
9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in
the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.
And you know how John turned out. Herod in having him beheaded triggered the curse. Though finding the specific details on the curse is covered in
different books. The book of Hosea and Leviticus 26.
Leviticus 26 covers the reward and punishment system in Judaism. The benefits of being a part of the system and the punishments from falling away from
it. Judaism is a legal agreement. And the Jews and Israelites violated the agreement.
Then you need to look at the book of Hosea and then verse 6-2 specifically. To put it simply, the Ancient of Days is royally mad at them. To start
4 For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an
ephod, and without teraphim:
5 Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the
then it gets more specific.
14 For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall
7 Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:
8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild
beast shall tear them.
And this verse is the time frame of the curse.
1 Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
That is 2 days in the presence of God. And Psalms 90 and 2nd Peter 3-8 make this point.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Those days are thousand year periods of time.
This curse should be over with in the 2020s at approximately the same time as of the 70 to 80 years of the generation of Matthew 24.
