Just because it was written 2000 years ago shouldn't take away from it. Imagine how you'd feel when in 2000 years, someone reads your post and says, "Probably doesn't say much." The Earth is over 4 billion years old and it can tell you a lot. A 2000 year old book may or may not be able to tell you alot. You can't use its age to debunk it.

I totally don't need to use its age to debunk it. It debunks itself. Don't even get me started, because I will never stop, and I MAY be talking to brick walls. People believe what they will to make themselves feel better.

Me? I'm in the pursuit of truth.

You do have a valid point that there has been a number of Apocalypse scares over the past 2000 years. But looking at Matthew 24 there seems to be a detail or two completed that simply wasn't there before. And if you throw the curse of Malachi into the mix it would seem that the time to worry about is the next 20 years.

To start with Matthew 24-14.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Taken literally that couldn't have been fulfilled until the 1900's. It took modern technology to map out the distant islands and regions of the earth where people live. Borneo, Australia, the wilds of the Amazon to mention a few of those places.

Then there is verse 15.
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand

That verse requires a Jewish temple be standing on the Temple Mount where the Islamic Dome of the Rock currently is. A Jewish nation currently surrounds it.

This verse being fulfilled is much closer than it has in the past 1900 years.

Then you take that generation statement in verse 34 then you can only assume that this Apocalypse is going to be over with in a few years.

Then there is the little matter of the curse of Malachi. Here is the verse from Malachi 4.

5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

And in Matthew 11 this is what Jesus Christ said about John the Baptist.

9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

And you know how John turned out. Herod in having him beheaded triggered the curse. Though finding the specific details on the curse is covered in different books. The book of Hosea and Leviticus 26.

Leviticus 26 covers the reward and punishment system in Judaism. The benefits of being a part of the system and the punishments from falling away from it. Judaism is a legal agreement. And the Jews and Israelites violated the agreement.

Then you need to look at the book of Hosea and then verse 6-2 specifically. To put it simply, the Ancient of Days is royally mad at them. To start with.

Hosea 3.
4 For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim:
5 Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.

then it gets more specific.

Hosea 5
14 For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him.

Hosea 13
7 Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:
8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.

And this verse is the time frame of the curse.

Hosea 6
1 Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

That is 2 days in the presence of God. And Psalms 90 and 2nd Peter 3-8 make this point.

8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Those days are thousand year periods of time.

This curse should be over with in the 2020s at approximately the same time as of the 70 to 80 years of the generation of Matthew 24.

I felt really werid reading this. Just 2 days ago I had an Apocalyptic dream. In it our Sun appeared to be dying or going black. There was panic and I knew this to be the end. Then my body was dead but my mind still alive. Then I awoke. Now I've never read much of the bible but I find your post like irony. It was so real

I have been wondering the same thing or if all these quakes are a prelude to 2012. Comparing this year (as of this writing) to last year we are slightly ahead in the number game however what I have noticed is we have had more significant quakes. My use of significant is M6.0 or above. The USGS site (USGS.gov) offers a notification service. I chose to be notified everytime there is a quake registering 6.0 or higher anywhere around the world. Today 04-11-2010 we had a 7.2 near the SOLOMON ISLANDS, which is near if not part of the ring of fire that is in that section of the Earth. On 04-06-2010 we had a 7.7 quake in NORTHERN SUMATRA, INDONESIA. The list goes on and on. California, Hawaii, Taiwan, Japan, Turkey, Chile, Haiti and the northern Atlantic to name a few. Related to 2012 or Planet X. People can guess... but no one really knows. We will have to wait and see. But I do believe in being prepared for the worst while hoping for the best. Do I think everything will happen the morning of 12-21-2012? No I believe it will be a build up over time.

There are hundreds of thousands of earthquakes every year. Only the big ones make the news. Even big ones miss the news because they happen in areas where people are not living. The Aleutians has many earthquakes. Due to the low numbers of people living there few earthquakes are reported.

Correction. I learned that the number of mag 2 earthquakes alone is 1.3 million a year! The mag 5 or bigger earthquakes is around 1500 a year.

Whole lotta shakin' goin' on.

Some people say the increase in earthquakes are because of more technology worldwide that is able to detect these earthquakes and to more accurate magnitudes, and that increased media coverage is also helping to "convince" us that there are earthquakes are happening more frequently.

I personally disagree with those statements, and I do believe that we are almost at the beginning of the tribulation.

Dave, there used to be only 300 seismographs in the entire world. Now there are over 8000 tied into the USGS network. That's a lot better isn't it? In all of that listening in on the sounds within the earth we have to decide what to report. If it happens in the US we listen better than if it happens outside the US. That's true. Still we listen as well as we can.
