OH! THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting! I'll tell you it really makes a difference to me. It's not always easy jumping out of bed (at any and all hours) to crash through the vineyard all the way to the back in order to capture what our Etna is up to! It's even freaky as all get out sometimes standing there in the dark, alone, rocks of 'unusual size' falling on my head... No joke, sometimes it's scary. BUT! If people like you are enjoying the pics I'll keep at it just for you!

Thank you so much! You're invited for pizza too! Let's make a ATS night out at Minicucco!

peace

I know that this is a reply to TKDRK, but I am also very interested in your pics. I love how you are so close, there is something about the force of mother nature that draws my interest in this.

But please do not put yourself in danger to take a pic. They are beautiful pics and all but I do not want you getting hurt.

Keep up the good work and stay safe.

This is also one of my favorite threads.

Mount Etna Erupts, Spews Column of Ash

Italy's Mount Etna manifested a new spate of activity, spewing a column of black smoke and ash 6-7 km up into the sky.

This is the fourth activity phase for Etna since the start of the year. The volcano was active via its new south-east crater.

At present the airport in nearby Italian city of Catania is operative, but if needed flights will be cancelled, reports ANSA.

Bare bones but at least she made the news!

Mt Etna erupts!

Hello all

Little worried about Her tonight, She was knocked by the Sumatra earthquake. She even had a Stromboli moment. He stats went wild. Also there was a 3.1 earthquake this morning. Hopefully She will settle down again. The web site is down so the only view is from the cams. What is worrying is, if She was knocked, which other volcanos did the same?

I'm worried about her too. Making a lot of noise now (it's not thunder at least) but I can't see her.
Weird orange cast to the sky this morning.
Not spouting doom just saying we need to keep an eye on her.

*eyes open*

Edit to add: I'm waiting for RSOE to update. I KNOW I felt the earth shake yesterday. Just need verification - I'm thinking 3+.

Managed to get in and collect the data from yesterday.
This was the moment the quake hit setting Etna off with a Stromboli spike. It has unsettle her a little so will be watching today to see if she calms down.

And this was the webicoder looking like a wild painting.

Yes, your quake was 3.1

I wonder if the seismic activity today has woken her up in a bad mood?

Yes, it was yesterday's big quake that started it. Now today there are more just as she went back for a sleep.
She is not happy now.

I still can't see what's going on with all the cloud cover but She's getting pretty loud. And it's coming more often. I can't wait to get a look at what's going on.

Wow - She's getting realllly loud!

Maybe I'll walk out back and take a video? Let me wait and see for a bit!

Thank you both for sticking with Her!

There's a little break in the clouds - I'm headed out for pictures - but I have a question for those of you watching Her on the screen.

Is the focus of all this activity her MAIN crater? The little I can see it looks like it - but that can't be can it?

Back in a bit with pic or vid not sure yet.

That's all I'm seeing at the moment - but - like I said before - She's LOUD.

The noise is really amazing. But, my dog doesn't like it (this time)! She got really upset once before a big eruption (as I noted in the thread here) but she's never howled at Etna before or anything for that matter!

From what I'm hearing and what you posted it looks like Etna is on the rise if anything I see. I'm trying for pics but it's a tough one with the clouds and sun.

If this keeps up (the increase in noise) and once I'm sure I'll have battery for tonight I might try to get some sound bites from her! Etna, not the dog, lol.

Be back in a bit!

She looks to be gearing up. Photo Source -- Cam 3

Thanks for the heads up, Tzavros and Silo. It's always fun to watch from the safety of my compy.

(Cute dog lips--but, I'm sorry the mountain is making your dog uncomfortable)
