Silo, Just out of curiosity do you know what the implications geographically are if she blows?
I remember your mentioning something about the valleys or tunnel networks close to her being set off..or something along those lines..
There are some wonderful stories of Etna past and how villagers went up into the mountains covered in wet cow hides to divert lava flow. Problem is
it diverted it to other towns. Ouch. It's (been) against the law since to divert flow.
For not the immediate implications - if this isn't a huge eruption - is the pain in the butt over all the ash that falls on already growing crops and
ruins them. Almost impossible to get the 'rain-ah' (phonetic spelling of 'ash' in Sicilian) out of broccoli, greens, etc.
It also makes for hazardous driving when the 'rain-ah' builds up on the roads - slippery as a winter storm over the Rockies.
Beyond that there has been a great deal of 'prophesies' that when Etna finally ‘blows big time’ it the ‘sign’ of the 'beginning of the end
of the world'...
Let's hope for all our sakes that's not the case now.
I'll supply links later but I've got to go change in hopes my ride shows up.
Wow - She's still just making HUGE sound, huge sound.
