Lebanese security officials say heavy clashes have erupted in a Palestinian military camp in a remote eastern part of the country as a result of infighting among Palestinian factions.
A spokesman for a Palestinian faction that is based at the camp, Anwar Raja, says one person has been killed. Lebanese officials could not confirm that.
The officials say machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades were being used in the fighting on Thursday. The camp is close to the village of Qusaya near the Syrian border.
The camp is run by the Syrian-backed Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command.
Raja claimed the clash erupted when Lebanese police tried to storm the base
