Hungry people don't look in their work boots for food, because as far as we know people don't keep food in their work boots.

Same reason we look for life where we KNOW it has the possibility of existing.

Nobody said it can't exist other places - there are endless theories and resources about other "types" of life

Yep, what I see as a problem is that we look for lifeforms as we know them, I think that often lifeforms we stumble upon will be so radically different from ours that at first we wont recognize it.
