I was looking at some websites of other countries newspapers-always good to get a different look from the other side. Two things stuck out to me. From Russia papers/websites-just to show a FEW. It doesn't take one long to realize Russia is for real and India appears to be right behind them (and on their side).

Russia: Flexing its muscle and influence:

One can see that Russia is growing again in military and influence desires. Putin.

Im telling you, you can spend a whole day looking over the Russian websites about their military and not get bored. They are in the mover and sharkers club-presently.

Russia and India need to work together more closely on defence to counter the rise of China. Both share borders with this rising superpower and would be the first nations at risk if China ever waged an expansionist war.

And the U.S. and India have also always had a close working relationship, because of China. I don't see what the big deal is with Russia exporting weapons, they've always done that, and so have we. To India and everyone else who has the money to buy it.

I would agree with you a few years back-about US & India but now-it appears to be different. I think they may believe the US is too closely tied w/ Pakistan now.

And, as far as Russia, yes, they have always been weapon exporters/sellers but again, times have changed. They seem to be offering bigger and better weapons now and basically controlling the Space aspects as well.

As my two threads point out (this one and the one indentified in the OP) Russia is ahead to the game-in front of Us and China.(still trying to figure out what Russia's angle is by selling CHina the high-tech missles).

I just don't think Russia can be or should be viewed like they use to be. They are different now.
