This years been pretty crazy with all the earthquakes. Wouldn't be too surprised if something bigger than the Chile quake happened. 7.0 in Haiti, 8.8 in Chile, 7.2 in Baja Cali.. Hope nothing serious happens and that everyone if alright.

Waiting for Yellowstone, then I can start the looting.

How you gonna do that? There is no www.loot .com.

Hey, why not just start it here?

This earthquake was obviously a human-controlled seismic manipulation, probably initiated by HAARP!

I have absolutely no evidence to that fact, but it's totally obvious.

Anybody find it incredibly odd that this happened not only on Easter, but on THE DAY BEFORE APRIL 5TH? Let's look at what is happening tomorrow:

· Millions lose unemployment benefits
· Wikileaks is releasing criminal info
· The shuttle launch

People were questioning how the news was going to be filled to divert attention from the Wikileaks announcement. I'm not spouting that this earthquake was caused by HAARP, but the timing is incredibly peculiar.

Is this just a coinkydink?

Depth has been raised aswell. A shallow 7.2 quake at a depth of (estimated) 6.2 miles.

We totally felt it here in Tempe.

Apparently they got it hard in Buckeye.

I'm in the Phoenix area.

Although I did not feel the ground sway, I got EXTREMELY irritable for some unknown reason today, out of the blue, around lunchtime. Then, I felt an extremely very powerful urge to take a nap for some unknown reason. So, I came home and took a nap. After my nap, I woke up, wondered what the hell got into me that I was so irritable around my family today for Easter brunch, checked the internet, and saw that an earthquake happened!!

Now, I've heard that animals act strangely before earthquakes, but I've never heard of people acting strangely. Has this ever happened to anyone else but me before?

Of course, it could all be a big coincidence, but....that was very strange. Even for me.

Pretty wild day for quakes in the SW today...ya'll stay safe, hope that 6.9 or 7.0 was the worst of it.

Seems like the rest of the subsequent shakes had all the earmarks of aftershocks. Of course I am about as amateur a seismologist as you will find. For everybody else's sake I hope the HAARPers will remain unproven and seemingly crazy (as little offense as possible
)

that's 10K right?
Isn't that the same depth as
the accused HAARP quakes strike at ???

Maybe California is getting ready to slide into the ocean. For all that land to be moving around all at once would make me think something really big is on the way. There have been a lot of quakes this year around the world. One of the signs of the end days are earthquakes everywhere. So maybe this is just the start. I would go to the mountains or someplace east just in case a pat of California falls into the ocean.

It's funny to read that as I sit here looking at the ocean on the edge of California. It will be cold and wet, but hopefully it will be quick.

I just got done watching 2012 yesterday and when I heard how large of an area it was, it reminded me of the movie. I know there was a lot of heroic overdo's with the escape scenes and all, but the way the Earth cracked up after the polar shift made me consider maybe something is up on the west coast.

That's what she said.

Sorry couldn't resist that one, but it would take on hell of a geological event to send you and your neighbors swimming. Let's hope nothing gets biblical your way, stay safe.

Just to give you guys a heads up on what you felt, I have this to say.

The quake was describe as being on a trampoline and a massage 'bike'. There's some good indicators in both of these statements.

1) Primary Waves (P-Waves) - These bad boys are the peaks and troughs in any oscillatory wave. They are the up and down force. If you have a strong primary wave earthquake, you will see lots of things bouncing up and down. Cross-sectionally reinforced bulidings will be fine, as they take these waves into account.

2) Secondary Waves (S-Waves) - These are the 'conservative' or horizontal waves that form the amplitude of the oscillations created by any quakes. These regulate the horizontal movements in a quake - imagine a 'haunted house' ride at a fairground, with 'shuffling floorboards' that ruin your balance. These waves will do just that. These waves are particularly prominent at destructive plate boundaries due to that nature of the movements. 'Twist' reinforced buildings will be untouched by these waves, which can topple smaller buildings with ease.

3) W-Waves - These are the surface waves, which are the least understood and sometimes the most dangerous. They travel along the surface of the earths crust and can often cause plasticity in surface areas. The 'sinking' of buildings built on otherwise solid material (liquifaction) can often result. The 'writhing' of suspension bridges in an earthquake are an excellent display of these waves.

SUMMARY:

Being on a 'conservative' plate boundary, S-Waves and W-Waves are most likely. Therefore, it will often feel like the 'pitching and rolling' of a ship when a quake happens. 7.2 is a LARGE earthquake, but given the minimal damage reported, and the effects described - the minimal severity of the damage is more due to the type of quake produced than the preparations made for it.

Good luck, and stay safe.

Parallex.

6.2 miles/9.6 kilometers under the Surface. It goes by USGS Estimation though so its a variant estimate, not actual.
