The following is an email I received as I keep getting them from Freedom Works. I never signed up to the website but for some reason I continue to get emails from them....which I think may be because I am also a member of CampaignforLiberty.com and they may have given up my email address...although I'm not entirely sure.

--------------------------------

Dear David,

This Tax Day, FreedomWorks Foundation is helping coordinate a nationwide protest the likes of which the Left has never seen.

They ignored the revolution that has been brewing across the country and rammed through ObamaCare. Now the grassroots outrage has boiled over.

And on April 15th, Tea Partiers everywhere are taking to the streets to send the message loud and clear: “We’re steaming mad, and we’re taking our country back!”

With our assistance, hundreds of Tax Day Tea Parties have organized in small towns and big cities from coast to coast, including the rally we are hosting in Washington, DC.

We expect over ONE MILLION protesters across the country, and I hope you’ll be among them. But if you cannot, there are still plenty of ways for you to help out and make your voice heard for freedom.

You see, such a massive and coordinated effort is no small undertaking. In fact, the logistics are staggering and many local Tea Parties will need a helping hand financially.

First of all, our primary goal is to maximize turnout at both the local rallies and the DC event. That takes buses, and A LOT of them. With the numbers we’re anticipating, it comes out to $75 a head to get people to and from their rally.

Do you think you can sponsor a Tea Partier to strengthen our message?

Also, we hope to live stream the DC rally’s impressive line-up of speakers. Tucker Carlson, Andrew Breitbart, Congressman Ron Paul, FreedomWorks Chairman Dick Armey and many more will be there, and we want to share that with you online. Unfortunately, that carries a hefty price-tag of $10,000 and that item is currently underfunded in our budget.

If you can, please click here to contribute $200 or more toward our live stream broadcast.

And of course, there are logistical “must haves” for such large gatherings. Porta-potties run about $185, and security barriers are $45 each. Also, protesters will need plenty of signs to voice their outrage, and those cost $5 a piece.

Maybe chipping in $185, $45 or just $5 for these physical necessities works best for your budget right now. Whatever amount you can spare will go a long way to this critical effort.

These Tax Day Tea Parties are really shaping up, and I’m excited. I hope you are, too. But I also want to see them go off without a hitch, and time is short and dollars are tight, so I’m counting on allies like you to see this through to success.

Let me once again give you a quick rundown of the ways you can help:

- Pitch in toward our live stream broadcast for $200 or more
- Rent a portable toilet for $185
- Sponsor a Tea Partier for $75
- Set up a security barrier for $45
- Put a sign in the hands of a protester for $5

I cannot imagine a time when events like this could be more important. Passage of ObamaCare has the Left invigorated, and more Big Government power grabs are sure to come.

We need to show Congress that Americans are up in arms over this march toward socialism, so next time they’ll think twice about rubber-stamping Barack Obama’s radical agenda. Remember, 2010 elections are right around the corner, and Tea Partiers VOTE.

And THAT’S why it’s so important these April 15th protests be nothing short of complete success. The more visible we are, the more scared the politicians will be. And as Thomas Jefferson said, that’s when we have liberty.

Please make a donation to our Tax Day Tea Parties today.

Sincerely,

Dick Armey
Chairman, FreedomWorks

P.S. On the morning of April 15th, FreedomWorks is also hosting a grassroots training program in Washington, D.C. Our “Liberty Summit” will feature discussion from prominent experts on next steps at the state level to beat back ObamaCare, the looming threat of cap and trade, and helpful how-to instruction in successful grassroots advocacy techniques. CLICK HERE to register!

Ok, while we know people are legitimately going to protest...I think this essentially proves Dick Armey and his Freedom Works organization is funding, organizing, and promoting the Tea Parties. There is really no doubt about it.

But why is this a big deal?

Here is why:

Secrets of the Tea Party: The Troubling History of Tea Party Leader Dick Armey

As chairman of FreedomWorks, the group credited with mobilizing the Tea Party movement, Armey is the movement's de facto leader. Yet Armey's years spent lobbying for a group recognized by the State Department as being a terrorist organization--should give Tea Partiers pause.

In the weeks before April 15, 2009, local newspapers began reporting that groups calling themselves TEA, or Taxed Enough Already, were planning rallies to protest wasteful government spending. By the time Tax Day rolled around, over 300 protests were under way in all 50 states. More than 100,000 people took to the streets, gathered in parks and city centers with signs, slogans and costumes evoking America's revolutionary past

The Man Behind the Movement

Only one month before that populist moment on Capitol Hill, Armey was employed as a lobbyist by leading international "consulting firm" DLA Piper. In that capacity, from 2005 to 2009, Armey promoted the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran, otherwise known as Mujahedeen-e-Khalq (MEK), which the State Department has branded a terrorist group. Armey lobbied his former colleagues on behalf of legislation that would have provided taxpayer support to the MEK.

Armey's work as a lobbyist--during which time he also served as chairman of FreedomWorks and organized Tea Party protests--is not mentioned in his FreedomWorks biography. This omission can perhaps be explained by the anti-lobbyist sentiments held by so many Tea Partiers. At the first national Tea Party Convention held in Nashville in February, former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin spouted off on the Obama administration's failure to eliminate lobbyists and cronyism in D.C. during her keynote speech and the crowd burst into loud applause.

2007 was a banner year for Armey's work on U.S./Iran relations. Ghaemi shelled out $400,000 for Armey and his team of Capitol Hill lobbyists. There were two bills before Congress that year that would have had a profound effect on U.S.-Iran foreign policy and could have potentially benefited a group of exiled Iranians greatly--namely MEK. Armey, during his time as Ghaemi's voice on the Hill, became the outspoken proponent of MEK, repeatedly urging Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice to remove the group's terrorist designation.

Tea Party Leader Dick Armey Lobbied for Terrorist Organization?!

So while some teabaggers try to distance themselves from the extremists amongst them who hurled racist and homophobic slurs and encouraged other violent acts against Democratic lawmakers (see Tom Perriello) over the past week, their very leader has an extremely troubling background lobbying for a terrorist organization.

… Armey was employed as a lobbyist by leading international “consulting firm” DLA Piper. In that capacity, from 2005 to 2009, Armey promoted the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, otherwise known as Mujahedeen-e-Khalq (MEK), which the State Department has branded a terrorist group. Armey lobbied his former colleagues on behalf of legislation that would have provided taxpayer support to the MEK.

It turns out that every man has a price and Armey’s price was $910,000 to lead the lobbying efforts on behalf of two Iranian-American businessmen who sought to have MEK removed from being designated a terrorist organization from the State Department.

In a 2007 article written by Armey in The Hill, he said the Bush administration would be wise to utilize MEK, which is violently opposed to the current Islamic regime. “Supporting the democratic opposition holds great promise for promoting the cause of freedom and democracy in Iran, particularly the group feared most by the regime (MEK),” wrote Armey, who concluded by saying “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

So why did the State Department have MEK on its terrorist list?

According to the State Department, MEK, a group that blends Marxist and Islamist tenets, was founded for the purpose of overthrowing the U.S.-backed Shah of Iran. In 1975 and 1976, MEK allegedly killed seven American defense advisors to the Shah.

It turns out that the initial purpose of this group was to assist in staging the Islamic revolution, which they indeed accomplished in 1979; however, the Islamic Republic of Iran, which followed the revolution, eventually exiled MEK. So what did MEK do next?

Over the following two decades MEK allied itself with Saddam Hussein to undermine the Islamic government of Iran. During the onset of the Iraq War in 2003, U.S. troops captured and detained 4,000 MEK soldiers near the Iran/Iraq border.

It turns out that the man behind the movement isn’t alone amongst Tea Party leaders. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) also tried to lobby to have the State Department remove MEK from its terrorist list.

Ironically, given his support of a socialist group [MEK], Tancredo delivered an acerbic opening address at the National Tea Party Convention. “People who could not even spell the word ‘vote,’ or say it in English, put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House,” he said. “His name is Barack Hussein Obama.”

The hypocrisy by those who helped to start and continue this movement is quite laughable. Not only is MEK listed as a terrorist organization, but it’s also a group that blends “Marxist and Islamist tenets” – according to the State Department. As you know, Tea Partiers regularly rail against any government spending as “socialism.” So it would appear that the very leaders of the Tea Party movement actually live by the old adage, “Do as I say, not as I do.” Hypocrisy at its core!

It turns out that Tea Partier Sarah Palin totally agrees with Armey and Tancredo. She had the following to say at a Tea Party convention speech in February:

“Around the world people seeking freedom from oppressive regimes wonder if Alaska [sic] is still that beacon of hope for their cause,” Palin said. “The administration has cut support for democracy programs, and where the president has not been clear, I ask: Where is his strong voice of support for the Iranians who are risking all in their opposition to Ahmadinejad?”

If all of this wasn’t enough for you, the hypocrisy continues for Armey.

In 2008, as corporations and banks across the nation were being bailed out with billions of tax dollars, Armey was lobbying on provisions of the TARP Reform and Accountability Act of 2009 for CarMax, a Fortune 500 company that went on to issue $1.5 billion in asset-backed securities eligible for investor loans under the TARP and Federal Reserve-subsidized Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility (TALF).

He actually lobbied in support of the same wasteful government spending he and his supporters now rail against. It seems to me that the Tea Party movement is experiencing a “creditability crisis.”

And now...my comments.

All of us know that there is plenty of anger out there about our deficits, corruption, and flat out craziness in Washington.

But please....do not let this information skip by. This man who is really become the engine behind the entire Tea Party movement has actually lobbied for TERRORISTS. He's promoted deficit spending. He has lobbying for international organizations.

THIS MAN IS EVIL.

He is NOT a patriot.

He does not deserve to run any kind of FREEDOM MOVEMENT. He's a fraud. A con man.

THIS MAN PROMOTED REVOLUTION IN IRAN.....and now look at what he is doing IN OUR COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please drop your support for this man. If you are planning on protesting...please make sure it has nothing to do with Freedom Works.

Don't let my opinions taint this information. I may be outspoken on things...I may be hated by many on ATS...

But PLEASE take this information seriously. Don't let Freedom Works/Dick Armey taint what you feel is just.

There are loads of info out there on Dick Armey and Freedom Works....just do a simple google search. You'll see how deep the rabbit hole really is....

=============

Edited to add:

Can someone PLEASE tell me why RON PAUL is hanging out with this man???

I like Ron Paul...I always thought he was legitimate...but now.....I just don't know...

We are INTENTIONALLY BEING DIVIDED.

So Tea party people out there...

As I have suspected, this movement is in fact being used to rebrand and cleanse the good old GOP brand name. But if the true goal is real change, why would you guys allow a fellow who seems to have the Bushlike international police disease run your movement?

Lets mash it up, I know you guys are reading this, explain how this movement is not just political show ? You get your way, GOP gets in there... Do you guys figure the party has changed? Do you even consider that the GOP had a huge hand in the mismanagement
which has brought us here...

Please explain and defend your beliefs and movement, if you truly believe at all

In addition to the rallies they will finally announce their 'Contract from America' which the Republicans will tout as their own and 'promise'
to abide by the rules if you put them in congress.

www.thecontract.org...

I don't care if they protest that's their constitutional right, it's simply none of my business. But as for Dick Armey I never liked that guy, if anyone's a threat to our nation it's him.

So what bothers me is that this is the SAME type of crap that propped up Al Quada and our old Iraqi dictator friend...

Everytime we do this, we fund them and they stab us in the back in a BIG WAY.

Does the Tea party enjoy maintaining this M.I.C game that continues and bankrupts this nation?

If not, speak up, better to fix it now before this policy gets in office-

David, I am glad that you had the courage to post this. I know with the state of ATS as of now, this thread will only become popular in a negative way. Be prepared for the worst forms of discourse allowed.

I will make no friends saying what I have to say, and I am quite okay with this. I thought that ATS was something else when I joined, but it turned out to be quite another beast that I was sure could not possibly exist. We are all familiar with the fabled theory of divide and conquer, yet we have all allowed such to happen. This nation, The United States of America, has become divided. The United States has a tradition of being the subjectively "best" nation in the post WWI world. While that may have been true for a long while there has been a history of pure backwardness not seen anywhere else on the planet. Many will make claims of socialism and communism run rampant in the United States, but those ignorant individuals do not understand that the United States has always leaned heavily to the right. Our most liberal congressman and public officials would be considered moderate conservatives in any other developed nation in the world. Our world view is twisted and far too conservative in nature. In this supposedly free and fair nation there has been a culture of hate and distrust amongst the citizens. Class struggles were the original issue, but the people in power knew much of the psychology of man and understood that the people would understand the class separation sooner or later and attempt to change it.
The middle class was created to provide the people with an illusion of social mobility and grace. The conflict then was shifted towards race, gender, sexual orientation and ethnicity. When the proletariat fight amongst themselves, the bourgeois can rest easily. That strategy has been utilized to a point in which I have to respect. The ones who pulled this off are magnificently brilliant. They have essential assured that they will never be made as targets for as long as they maintain their power. When it looked as if trouble may have come from the popular of socialist ideas the powers that be brainwashed a nation with the red scare. Many fools today are still indoctrinated in the worst means to have the word "socialist" pull a trigger of fight or flight within their minds. The powers that be were brilliant in their tactics. No one would dare question their corporate free market rule if individuals were bred to know government assistance as a red enemy that could start WWIII.
Now I must address the problem at hand. These tea party individuals and so called patriots of the constitution are brainwashed sleepwalkers. They are the most dangerous things to the stability of this nation and the potential success of the truth movement that has not yet begun. Yes, sleepwalkers are dangerous. They think that they are lucid and awake, when in truth they are clouded by deceit and illusion. What is worse is that they are not ever inclined to question their "authority" on truth. They are static and flat within their beliefs. They cling to what they think they have come to know as truth. They are dangerous liabilities. The powers that be utilize them every day. Though MSNBC may be undoubtedly liberal, I have not seen such charged language and subconscious bombs being planted on it like I have seen from that of FOX. Its viewers had become so indoctrinated that they were defending their corporate slave owners to the end on the health care issue. I sat in pure bewilderment as I watched such occur.
Now I see the rising call to violent revolution coming form the far right fringe. Divide and conquer is working. The ignorant masses of the Far Right assume authority of truth when they are just the sleepwalking puppets of the corporate machine. There is much talk of how we have strayed from the constitution and such, but that is the point. That is why we have survived for this long. That is why America is what it is, we change as needed. We always have. Now that the nation is actually moving forward and addressing such important issues as poverty and the class disparity the ignorance of the masses are being utilized by the corporate machine to ensure that this nation remains right leaning and ignorant. Many people complain about taxation, and claim that the founders fought against such. That is incorrect. The founders fought against ridiculous decrees from the crown that included nonsensical taxes. The founders had an answer to legitimate taxation, and you can see it in the Whiskey Rebellion. That is how things become paid for in a nation, legitimate taxation. There is no way around that, and to think otherwise is ridiculous dribble conjured up by someone using your feeble sheep complex against you.
Back to the constitution, it is and will always be a document that will be subjective in nature. There are social issues and technologies that the founders could not imagine long ago, ans because of such things must be looked at in different ways. Same will occur 200 years down the line, things will have to remain in a flexible and subjective manner in order for our great nation to survive. Militias were for keeping the peace within communities, there were no such things as police organizations or the national guard...hell, there was barely a standing military in those things...but times change. As for states rights, do not kid yourself, I know all of the tenth amendment and I know all of the supremacy clause and the federalVstate power dichotomy. Look towards the articles of confederation, it was a mess, do not go supporting something that is proven to seriously not work amongst only 13 states, let alone 50.
These so called patriots are tools, and the rest of the American people will have to fight against them in arms one day if we all do not come to our senses. The corporations will make another buck off of our strife and we will continue to be behind the rest of the civilized world. This divisiveness must end and we must become more open, and yes more liberal:a political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of the human race, and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties; specifically : such a philosophy that considers government as a crucial instrument for amelioration of social inequities (as those involving race, gender, or class)
We must forget our differences and not be used by those who seek to exploit

This is crazy.

People have the right to protest...I know that many care...I'm not trying to slam the protesters...but they are being misled by a con man.

I am concerned about the deficits as well...and corruption....

The problem is...this whole movement has been corrupted for those who actually care....and by a MADMAN.

It's awfully sad...that in this country...you can't even have a legitimate "Populist" movement without it being destroyed.

We are being turned against each other. The fact that Dick Armey supported a terrorist group in Iran, lobbying for them, who supported Revolution in Iran is VERY VERY TROUBLING. He promoted deficit spending just a month before last year's tea party protests.

He is leading a new sort of "Revolution" here.....doesn't this bother people?

This guy is treasonous.

Most of all, we must not chase phantoms of a red government created by great minds in the 1950s to protect neocapitalism (corporate rule). We must realize that socialism is great, this nation has many many socialist policies and they do work. We must not fear help or assistance...this idea of the American individual is great, but sometimes pulling yourself up by the bootstraps can only do so much. We must extend helping hands to one another, for we are all family. We must not chase phantoms that do not exist, and we must let go of ignorance.

That said, this right wing leaning nonsense must end. Its time for America to move towards the middle, and yes, become more liberal...Progressive...hell, socialist (I know how you all hate this word). Who amongst you will consider that you may be at fault in your so called return to the constitution, who will be a big enough soul and consider that for one second they may be wrong. I ask you, who amongst you has the bravery to say "I am wrong?"

The thing is, I have noticed that these individuals will ignore the information presented or twist it to fit their ideology. I will give you an example of something, I am interested in conspiracy theories due to the spiritual and alien natures of the subject. When presented with evidence that a UFO sighting or a famous abduction story is bunk, I will research the information and concede to the fact that it is bunk.

These individuals on the far right are a different breed of conspiracy theorists. They are full of some sort of hate, duty, or sense of entitlement (I have no clue). It drives them to protect something that they hold dear, something that they think is in danger when it is not...these people think that they are defending something with all of their heart and soul and I empathize with them, however that does not mean that I condone their behavior or logic.

I hope, that one day, people will realize that it's not the billionaires....the massive corporations...the government...nor any TINY elite membership group that makes this country great.

It's the LARGEST group....IT'S THE MIDDLE CLASS!!!!

WE ARE AMERICA. It's not commentators on television...it's not a politicians telling us how the world should be....nor is it Wall Street.

IT'S US...and we are losing. We are losing because of people like Dick Armey.

He's a charlatan and he's dangerous to our country.

This man goes against everything I stand for when the truth is revealed.

Majority is supposed to rule in this country...unfortunately....WE DON'T.

Well this might account for some, it appears to manifest like the "small town/regional"
mentality. What you know is "comfortable and people understand you" more...
A folk in rural Georgia is not going to be able to relate to a politician from the big city.
The GOP capitalizes on this time and time again.

Sarah Palins distinction "REAL AMERICA" was one of the most brilliant and telling political phrases in American history. It was confirming this connection and reaffirming the existence of such, it is also very manipulative. I suppose the DEMS do the same thing with ethnic folks as well, however I do not think the attitude this produces is as die hard and fanatical.

This Tea party is a kin to this IMO

Here we have a thread that shows the leader of the movement is infact NEOCONISH
in nature. But it is ignored because the mission of dethrowning the big city liberal
elitist, muslim, homo sexer is more important than the genuine sentiment that fuels
the outward rhetoric.

Well that was a very good, well thought out post

I think what many patriots fail to see or recognize is that America above all else is
a nation built upon commonality and shared interest. It is the whole that defends the
individual and it is the individual that comprises the whole, this is the balance that was achieved, why bravery and sacrifice is honored and choice is protected.

I don't think socialism is a great thing in it political form, however there is a great deal of "socialistic" ideas that are very American. Libraries, free press and a common military all point to the fact that the founding fathers did perceive a connection which
transcends the flat line individualism promoted here. Fraternity was the basis of our revolution, common good, common honor to allow for the individualism to be achievable and sustainable.

This twisting of the personalities of our founding is also very disheartening -
pick what works for your objective, leave the rest.

Like the bible forbids homosexuality and also forbids acting as the will of god, the act of judgement...

Take one, ignore the rest

Tis a Religion this Party
