rawstory.com...

The head of the influential Catholic League says that the priest who allegedly sexually abused 200 deaf boys in Wisconsin did not engage in pedophilia because 'the vast majority of the victims [were] post-pubescent."

Bill Donohue made the argument during a raucous debate on Larry King Live Tuesday night, during which he repeatedly pointed the finger to homosexuality -- rather than pedophilia -- as the cause of the church's sex abuse problems.

"You’ve got to get your facts straight," Donohue said, addressing sex abuse victim Thomas Roberts. "I’m sorry. If I’m the only one that’s going to deal with facts tonight then that'll be it. The vast majority of the victims are post-pubescent. That’s not pedophilia, buddy. That’s homosexuality."

No matter what semantic BS you use; it's still a crime and priests should be prosecuted thru the court system just like any other child molester.

What is wrong with this world....from priest to judges all are profane yet profess to be innocent.

They both judges and priests have stolen the innocents of millions.

OK. Lets get this straight.

A priest (i use the term loosely) decides to play rump ranger with some deaf kids.

The dirt bag Catholic league says its OK because he's gay?

Really? I guess gay is the new ecclesiastical white out (no pun intended) to shift from being a pedo.

Nah. Take these offenders (and the priest that covers for them) and put them up for public execution. First shot to the nards!

I'm surprised by idiot parents that still trust these SOB's enough to leave their kids with them!

I'm surprised the excused didn't go along the lines of -

"Well just before I raped them I did ask them individually as to their development. As there was no response I assumed they just wanted to get down to business"

The whole situation is freaking sick each of these men should be tried like any other rapist or pedphile and suffer the consequences.

Likewise anyone involved in the cover up "including the pope" should be brought to trial for aiding and abetting.

These people don't live in the real world like the rest of us an it is high time they did, I would also argue that any catholic that still attends church is equally guilty of aiding and abetting a pedophile ring by their continued support.

Well, technically thats true...pre-pubescent is pedo...post is otenophelia or some such word (cant be bothered to google it)...and then its a technical matter. a child in most states is defined as someone under the age of 18...a child molester can be what people thing, such as some 40 year old diddling with a 5 year old, or a 19 year old banging a 15 year old..the law barely defines differently here and both will get the title.

Whatever, a crime is stil a crime..you touched someone underage...look, fantasize, do whatever you want..but once you physically touch someone underage, thats when you have done wrong.

Considering becoming a priest? get some therapy beforehand, because that closet gayness will not magically go away, it will become twisted and you will possibly act out in a very unhealthy way down the road...priesthood is not a shelter from who you are or biology in general.

It seems like every time one of these 'notable' Catholics opens their mouth, they just make matters worse. Yet another nail in the coffin for Catholicism!

In time we will look back upon this and realize that Catholicism is responsible for creating more atheists than Catholics... and is it any wonder?

IRM :shk:

I've been following this for a while now, barely a week goes by without another catholic/peadophile scandal.

The Devil made me do it, the Devil made the press report it, the homosexuals did it by forcing us to accept them... ad nauseum.

How long before an enraged parent starts taking matters into their own hands?

I agree with your premise entirely. However I must respectfully disagree on a couple of points - there isn't a standard age in most states. There is some consensus clustering around 16-17-18 but I believe the deep south has at least a couple of states where the age of consent is 14 or 15. I remember Delaware (I think) once had an age of consent as low as 9.

"Look, fantasize, do whatever you want" is considered a crime now here in the USA - thought crime, alleged kiddy porn, sexting, undercover online sting/entrapment. I also STRONGLY agree with you that once you touch someone underage that's when you have done wrong.

I also agree with IRM that Church spokesmen seem to be mucking up things pretty badly with "justification" comments like the one quoted. But one of my sisters is Roman Catholic, has a gay son - and still has an unshakeable faith that everything's just fine in the Church. So there are going to be quite a few of the faithful that remain so just because....
