Can someone tell me if the below sounds familiar?

Fear spread through the U.S.S.R. as neighbors were ordered to spy on one another. The Soviet government broke up families, and it urged children to inform on their parents to the police.

Thoughts?

Sounds like the the present day United Kingdom and United States of America to me.

Perhaps not quite as extreme as it was in the former Soviet Union, but there are certainly similarities.

Spying, suspicion, propoganda, intimidation, and fear are all tactics currently being employed throughout the western world. Most notably in the aformentioned countries.

You do realize that many of our parents would be considered having in their possession Child pornography by having all those pictures of our cute little nude butts in family pictures since the Camera was invented. Before that it would have been painted and many of today's masterpieces are of nude children at play.
There is NO way to prove what the child had in their hands is an illegal substance or that it was being smoked by that child. The picture is a picture it is not a video. It could be just to tease the Authorities! A picture like that probably would never see the inside of a courtroom in a trial.
I have followed this family on their website for years. The local constabulary has had it in for them because this all started by his revealing corruption in the county!

For those members of ATS that are with the constabulary, this is the sort of fodder for promoting profound ill-will towards the profession.

There are some of you (LEOs) that at times seem incredulous that people would feel this way towards those of a vocation that some day may save their lives. ("Crash" was a great movie!!).

It's up to you, in this forum, to speak out unconditionally about this kind of abuse.

So let me get this little gem straight...

  1. Parents teach their kids that the government is not trustworthy
  2. The government sends their goons in to deem the parents "unsuitable" for teaching their kids that the government is not trustworthy
  3. Government action proves the parents were correct in their assertion that the government is untrustworthy

This country is getting more insane by the day!

Is this another April 1st joke? Nah, trust our government? You mean the government that Nixon was in charge of once? You mean the government that liar liar Willy Clintoon was once in charge of? You mean the government that Bushy was in charge of when we went to war based upon a huge lie?

Hey, I've always told my children (when they were minors) to NEVER trust your government. Now I teach that to my grandkids!

This makes me want to put up a web site for kids, one which will explain why and show why you can't trust ANYONE that wants to be the boss of YOU! I could include coloring pictures of Billy Clintoon working late in the Oral Office, ha. And other of dead babies laying in the streets after an unquestioning military goon dropped a bomb that was released by a lie lie lie.

Ha, NEVER trust the US government.

If you read through the whole article you would have learned the nude photo of the girl was found to be he,r taking pictures of herself... That charge was dropped and the girl given a strong warning about taking risque digital photos...

I couldn't care less how many layers of clothing she was wearing while posing for the photos. If nakedness offends someone, they likely have a mental hangup and mental issue they need to work through.

The question I have is whether the parents were taking photos of their children while smoking. Who took the photos of their children smoking?

Are you kidding me? This government is going to get us all killed one day. Seriously, who among you think, for example, that 9-11 was because muslim extremists hated YOU ... as opposed to hating our rouge corrupt up-in-everyones-face government? I think I can say with a high degree of certainty that they were not after my ass, I don't think they even know me, and if they were after me they certainly missed their mark.

Sorry, but of all the governments upon the planet, I must say I'm more afraid of OURS getting me killed one day, and if not due to a terrorist attack, then it would be our government sending me off to fight some damn war for oil that I couldn't care any less about.

And as far as the police are concerned, I'm more afraid of them than the average joe on the street.

I'd urge you to re-think your defense of these people:

"In addition during computer searches they found a nude photograph of the daughter, and several pictures of her smoking marijuana"

While marijuana is thought to be safer than smoking cigarettes by most I think there is a consensus that all smoking is not something kids should be doing! They are putting the health of their children at great risk if this evidence turns out to be accurate.

[edit on 1-4-2010 by truthquest]

Did you consider how old the daughter is and that maybe she uses the same computer that her parents do? Those could be pictures her or her boyfriend took and send back and forth... just tossing one plausible reason out there besides the "OMG, these parents are sick and should be locked up" knee-jerk response. These are the days of "sexting".

You are quick to judge with little facts my friend. Always read between the lines.

I smell BS and as someone else mentioned, a good old-fashioned vendetta by some of his old colleagues.

No matter what the reason, it's a shame that as a parent living in a "free" society (I use that term loosely), I have to fear not only my children and how I choose to raise them thanks to tyrants and hypocritical bigots, but what I even say to them in the confidence of my own home.

I live in Illinois.

The Police around here quit protecting and serving along time ago.

Now they are here only to act as revenue generators/tax collectors for the communities they are supposed to serve with all of their miscellaneous fines they impose like speeding, seat belts, expired tags, headlight out, the list goes on and on.

Just like taxes cops are there to extract as much money out of the citizens as they possbly can all in the name of maintaining the peace.

Its a complete joke.

Alittle story.

I live in a small town, within the last year we had 5 of our police officers suspended with pay mind. They found out some 19 y/o kid in town was sleeping with one of the officers wife. One night 3 of the officers were off duty at a local bar and saw the kid. They waited till closing and called the dispatcher to send a car to the bar to pick them up because they were so drunk, they then followed this kid to his house, blocked his car in with the squad car and proceeded to all beat the windows out of his car and drag him out of the car and beat the # out of him, all of this happened in front of the kids dad who came out of the house to see what was going on. They then all jumped in the squad car and left and tried to deny everything. A good portion of it was caught on tape by a security camera on a business across the street. End the end the kid hired a lawyer and got a huge settlement from the city, 4 of the officers lost their jobs, none of them did any jail time, alll got probation, the dispatcher who also deleted the call to the station that the other 3 officers made to try and cover it up was not dicsiplined at all and is now back at work.

Send this to as many of your contacts as possible.
This thread needs to go viral.
I live in Texas, and this really tears me up.
What the heck....Texans cut their teeth mistrusting the government.
(Federal anyway) Don't know anythin about this couple, but my heart goes out to them. This should not happen in America....and especially in Texas.

I would just like to point out that here within these United States, we are a republic, not a democracy. It is irrelevant what 25,000,000 people believe in regards to this couples children.

So the "consensus" argument is void.

I feel I should reiterate one last time that within these United States we are a republic and not a democracy.

Whatever your opinion about a fourteen year old girl smoking is, is irrelevant.

Unless, of course, you are dealing with your daughter.

Did anyone else watch the video on their website?

YouTube Video describing situation by Barry himself

These guys make money off telling people how to not get busted for pot. They even sell "blunt magic" which supposedly stops smoking odors by saturating your blunt in it
Ironically, they got busted for pot. But what was a simple misdemeanor turned out to be a full blown raid of their house with CPS being called in, etc etc.

I'm sure the PD have been waiting to get them for a long time, and when the time came they didnt hold back. However Barry has more than enough resources, it would seem, to get the entire media involved in this. Not to mention a discussion board, YouTube channel and very active website. Should be interesting..

i havent read the entire thread but incase anybody hasnt already mentioned it....

the local police arent very fond of Barry cooper because he use to be one of the star attaboys in the DEA. he was high ranking and had more busts/citations than all the other officers.

and he quit, to make some movies called "never get busted" and "never get raided. the movies basicly explain the exact procedures to DEA raids/busts and he explains the tactics they use to incriminate yourself.

its basicly a play by play on how to not get caught with marijuana. hes very pro-pot.

this was in my opinion them being sore losers.

This is an account of a conversation with Governor Connolly of Texas, (who was splattered by JFK's brains while sitting next to JFK when he was assassinated ) when he turned and said the following to Gerald Caliente::

“Gerald, I read your book and it’s a fine piece of work,” he said. “Your heart is in the right place but you don’t have a clue of what’s going on in the government, and neither do the American people. If they did, there would be a revolution in this country.”

What they are doing is not activism.

It is capitalism (money making).

Activism is doing things like educate the public about properties of certain plants, medicinally, and to actively work with your politicians as a lobbyist to rationally further your cause.

Having your woman sit next to you in a cheap youtube video, wearing a too tight unzipped too far sweatshirt that says PINK just reeks of professional activist to me.

This guy and his woman sound like clowns.

They did not get their kids removed because they teach their kids the government is bad.

These two were asking for it to further their cause (money making).

They sure are milking it right now.

Before this arrest raid nonsense, I have never heard of these two bozos.

ETA:

Dont wanna get busted for pot?

Dont have pot where its illegal.

I dont have to watch youtube for that!!

You have got to be kidding. a 14 year old kid is smoking marijuana? Well I just don't know what to say about that, only happens everywhere, everyday.

This appears to be the same couple that has embarrassed the police on many occasions and publishes the KopBuster series. This is no doubt just another attempt to harass them due to the Kop Buster program they have.

Considering why weed is against the law, not the propaganda, the actual history and "your health" has nothing to do with it.

This is one of the craziest thing I've heard so far. It is clear, if you read the report, that these parents were good parents who were being harrassed by police officers. Clearly, law enforcement has a personal vendetta against them and were looking for an opportunity to hit them where it hurts the most.... their children.

Makes me sick.

You know what? My parents have nude pictures of me as a child too! It all really depends on what these pictures are about. Mine were of me streaking the neighborhood as a 2 year old because I "broke free" while my mom was dressing me after my bath. Dad had the camera and the chase was on. We laugh about these pictures all the time.
Think back, have you ever seen a picture of a little girl on the beach with her bottom showing? Yep it was on a sunscreen lotion bottle.

This article does not say how old the child was when the pictures were taken. So we really don't know do we?

The Coopers are outspoken people that advocate for marijuana use. They are being targeted because they have busted several cops breaking the law. They carry cameras with them and set up FAKE grow rooms and then tape the cops busting up the operation without warrants.

EDIT to add...... OK I just read the article and it does say the daughter was a minor but it also says SHE took the picture and her parents knew nothing about it.

There's a lot of right and wrong that are RELATIVE in a cultural sense.

For instance, in Brazil, in a religious setting, children 8 and over can take hallucinagics. For thousands of years, children in many cultures have been allowed to experience salvia d., pot, ect., in such a religious context.

Now brain studies show brains aren't really developed risk taking wise until the later 20's. Some 50 year old politicians act like children. The whole human race has a heck of a lot to learn, no?

That said, it's universal for human beings to protect their children from being stolen, or killed, or maimed, or seriously maltreated. That's what CPS was mad for. It wasn't put in place to be the thought police.

It still does those things - or tries to. Thing is, abusing your kids is pretty evil, and humans can't really stop that. They haven't yet. If someone comes to my door, and shoots me, all the 'authorities' can do is find them before they do it to someone else - clean up the mess, as you will. I'm still dead. Why do we even think we can save everyone? We can't.

Now, there's a price for freedom. We talk about freedom, we say we value it. Do we?

For some reason, people think the price is to be paid by soldiers off fighting somewhere. No. Real freedom is also paid for by the populace. It's paid for by the ones that get missed so that the rest of us don't have to fear our children being kidnapped and raped or murdered while in state custody.

CPS is being used as a political weapon. Not merely by the govt., but by the neighbor down the road you ticked off, by the customer you told to pay their overdue bill or you're not going to finish the new job you are working on for them.

It's only going to get worse. People are going to let it happen to. There's crying women wringing their hands over "what about the children?"

They are stupid. They think the govt. cares about children. Let the govt. take their children.
