Strong earthquake hits Andaman Islands, India

HONG KONG, March 31 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale hits Andaman Islands, India region early Wednesday, according to a release by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The quake, which occurred at 1:00 a.m. HK time (1700 GMT), was initially determined to be near Andaman Islands, India region, 13. 6 degrees North latitude and 92.9 degrees East longitude, about 210 kilometers north of Port Blair, India.

I've also placed this is the Quake Watch 2010 thread. An interesting post on that thread by Puter Man shows a number of earthquakes all around the perimeter of the plate in that area.

The spacing on that map kinda makes me wonder- Really. The left side looks a tad too equidistant for my poor mind to say 'natural'. I wonder if there's gas/ oil drilling in those areas.

Or, we can all blame Global Warmi- I mean- Climate Change!
