No, don't kick Texas out....we just need to import more Democrats/independents

I will agree that our track record for presidents is not too good...but, then again, we can probably say that about most states that have produced presidents.

Or we can annex Mexico and develop it into something worthwhile.

Get a hobby or something. I sure hope you are a 12 year old child that knows no better. That would make this tripe a little easier to swallow then to find out you are an adult functioning in society.

Good Lord what's this world coming to?

Forget removing states...What we need to do is call back our troops and take over Mexico. All the way to the Panama Canal, then we take that back too. Lets let all these "illegals" who reside here now become citicens at the expense of their country. "work here and send money home?" Heck no! Now you are going to be taxed on that money Jose! Make it so us upper class working stiffs have some beachfront property to buy! Don't like it? write your congressmen and see how that treats ya! Since we already have a New Mexico, lets rename it Old Mexico. Also, since we will now be one big happy family, lets do away with that "push 1 for English" crap and make English the ONLY language spoken here. Lots of room to expand the industries and textile factories, plenty of resources, and think of the amount of tax the government will collect! Pay off that debt fast!

Not Quite.

Woodrow Wilson was from Virginia.
en.wikipedia.org...

Franklin D. Roosevelt was from New York.
en.wikipedia.org...

Barack Obama has been accused of hailing from many places, but never Texas!

The things that these fellows gave us have yet to be reversed, and they have been detrimental to our nation.

maybe they should start working with the drug cartels and make drugs legal;
i would classify drug cartels products as imported goods;
trade fertilizer for drugs
and their soldiers will work for us

1. Texas has it's own power grid
2. Texas was one of the very last states hit by the economic recession because our lawmakers know how to balance a budget and has no state income tax
3. Real Estate is cheap in Texas and the unemployment rate is the lowest in the nation
4. These very "different" people are the friendliest in the U.S. - I know because I've been to Washington, Michigan, North and South Dakota, Massachusetts, Maine, Illinois, Missouri, Idaho, Kansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and Pennsylvania. No other state comes close to hospitality or friendliness, period!
5. And yes, we're mostly a conservative state and damn proud of that.

Our state could easily run independently without the rest of the U.S. We don't need you. The fact is, you clearly need us.

Don't need to remove any states.

The problem is on Capitol Hill in D.C., they have taken too much power, are ignoring the wishes of the people and are out of control.

We need to let Texas be Texas, and each of the other states be a reflection of their citizens and not try to turn the country into one big state. It was never meant to be that way. Let the liberal states be liberal and have their own little socialist heaven if thats what they want, let the conservative areas be conservative. We are not a "one size fits all" nation. We are a nation of diversity, and D.C. is trying to fit all of us into one box. It will not work.

We are headed for civil war and the root of it will not be in the states, it will be exactly in D.C.

Castrate the federal government and solve the problem.

Us VS. Them? Not at all. I think some expansion, and a move back to an industrial nation is what is needed. Maybe toss in some isolationism to boot. I was pointing out in a "tongue in cheek" way that we could give the mexican people a chance to better themselves by legally partaking in what is still arguably the best country in the world. Is humor a lost art now?
And if I wanted to write for a child I would have written it like this .

I do not like the USA
It does not like me I am gay
I do not like to pay a tax
You make too much, you pay the max
Would you could you please press "one"
A joker is president, now buy a gun
Would you work under the table Jose?
Who in their right mind likes Pelosi?

Ok, it is bad I know, but geez.....If you can't laugh about things that are happening right now, I think I would go a little crazy!

Added...Don't get me wrong DjSharperimage, I am purely trying to keep this thread moving and lighthearted.

There seems to be an awful lot of hatred towards Texas on ATS.

Kick Texas out of the U.S.? Okay, let's have a look ...

Texas possesses three of the Top Ten most populous cities in the U.S. - Houston,
Dallas and San Antonio.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area has more residents - 6,145,037 - than 31 U.S. states.

Texas has more counties (254) than any other state. Forty-one counties in Texas are each larger than the state of Rhode Island.

The King Ranch itself near Corpus Christi is larger than the state of Rhode Island

Texas is the nation's leading producer of oil, natural gas, beef, sheep, goats, wool, cotton, rice...and, oh yes, watermelons.

The land area of Texas is larger than all of New England, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Illinois combined. It extends 801 miles from north to south and 773 miles from east to west.

The Dallas/Ft. Worth airport is larger than New York City's Manhattan Island.

Many people think of Texas as a dry and dusty state. Some of it is. But there are also nearly 5,000 square miles of inland waterways in the state (lakes, rivers, etc.). That's more than Florida and Minnesota (the "Land of Lakes").

By Federal Law, Texas can fly its flag at the same height as the U.S. flag, because we were a republic before we became a state. Texas is the only state that can do so.

We have more folks in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines than any other state.

Texas produces more than 1 Million barrels of oil, each day.

Always remember what our great Governor, Sam Houston, once said:
"Texas can make it without the United States, but the United States can't make it without Texas!"

If someone in a Lowe's store offers you assistance and they don't work there, you may live in Texas;

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you may live in Texas;

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you may live in Texas;

If 'Vacation' means going anywhere south of Dallas for the weekend, you may live in Texas;

If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Texas;

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you may live in Texas;

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked, you may live in Texas;

If you carry jumper cables in your car and your wife knows how to use them, you may live in Texas;

If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph --you're going 80 and everybody's passing you, you may live in Texas;

If you find 60 degrees 'a little chilly,' you may live in Texas;

If you actually understand these jokes, and share them with all your Texas friends, you definitely live in Texas.

Here are some little known, very interesting facts about Texas .
1.. Beaumont to El Paso : 742 miles
2.. Beaumont to Chicago : 770 miles
3. El Paso is closer to California than to Dallas

12. King Ranch in South Texas is larger than Rhode Island ..

14. Texas is the only state to enter the U.S. by TREATY, (known as the Constitution of 1845 by the Republic of Texas to enter the Union ) instead of by annexation. This allows the Texas Flag to fly at the same height as the U.S. Flag, and may divide into 5 states.
15. A Live Oak tree near Fulton is estimated to be 1500 years old.
16. Caddo Lake is the only natural lake in the state.
17. Dr Pepper was invented in Waco in 1885. There is no period in Dr Pepper....

I mentioned this to a friend and the first thing my bff said was that Texas should be kicked out of the union.

This is shocking to me, I must be out of the loop, because I didnt know there was such a negative view of texas. I also havent seen any valid reasons posted as to what made texas such a bad place that is a detriment to the stability of the union as a whole. Someone mentioned that 2 presidents came from there so I would think its a benefit, not saying they were good or bad presidents but If 2 national leaders came from Texas the state cant be taht bad. People must really hate texas though it seems, perhaps someone could explain what makes texas such a burden to us as americans.

this topic is also about states not removing DC because its the seat of the government. If anything DC should be merged into a closer state and due to its historic signifigance would cause a substantial boon in their economy from tourist dollars.

Hawaii should be removed since their just islands and to far away to care about. also its to expensive to ship things there. Hawaii also destroys the possibility of seeing all the states on a road trip, so hawaii is destructive to traditional family values in this sense.

I liked the idea about mexico and taking them over, but why not expand to canada and provide them with the glory of being americans? Their cries of freedom are just as valid as ours were. By absorbing these lands and spreading freedom to them we would not only make the lives of the everyday person there better but it would further cement America as the greatest country on Earth.

this thread is more relevant now then ever given how many states will not accept the true american history that scholars know about. Many states are trying to block texas textbooks from their schools. This only shows the level of brainwashing the public schools in these states are doing by hiding the truth about what a real american is.
