Current details
30 Mar, Beam-Gas measurements

In the past few hours CMS has experienced "beam-gas" collisions - interactions of the 3.5 TeV beams with residual gas particles in the beam pipe in the centre of CMS. These interactions have allowed measurements to be made of the expected horizontal and vertical positions of the 7 TeV collisions in CMS - see below. It seems there is a very small offset (about 100 microns) in the vertical (Y) position but the horizontal (X) is perfect..

Ramp to 2TeV

30 Mar, Ramping

08:05 Beams injected again, preparing for ramp to 3.5 TeV. Should take ~45 minutes. Beams dumped ~50 minutes later due to some small problems in sectors 8-1 and 1-2.

The beams are at 3,5 TeV just now, and they are bringing them to collide as i speak.

This might be the last message to the internet before cern opens up a black hole and makes our existence 4dimensional

Particle collisions now at 100hz

Ie. 100 collisions per second at ATLAS, also from the other experiments.

Thanks for the web cam link prof-rabbit

History in the making live on the net , now we just have to wait till they sort out the data ,and then see what happens when they run the machine at full power .
