Abbas rules out peace talks without settlement freeze

news.bbc.co.uk

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has ruled out attending indirect "proximity talks" with Israel unless it halts the construction of settlements.

Mr Abbas told an Arab League summit he would not resume negotiations as long as Israel maintained the "status quo" in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.

The DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED political authority in Palestine has spoken once again. Peace will not happen if there is continued invasion of Palestinian land.

There will therefore never be peace in this area of the world as Israel has repeatedly refused to stop the settlement development...

This means that we will continue to see the atrocities by the IDF, the insurgence, and by the indifferent world. Yes I said it, the indifferent world.

The world is just as guilty as both sides in this affair. They stand aside and let this happen. Shame on us.

Keeping the peace,

i dont see why he just doesnt call for a one state solution
since a two state solution is LONG dead and the israelis will continue to hold onto palestinian land.

one state , both get the land

Although a very logical solution, this will unfortunately never work. There would then be a problem with the governance, who gets houses where, jobs, etc... Israel will never change their laws to accommodate Muslims, nor would the Palestinians accommodate Jews even if they were living together in peace for thousands of years before the English and the Americans got involved...

The only solution is simple : there is no solution. We can't undo the creation of Israel, nor can we give back land to the Palestinians that was taken illegally...

It's a conundrum indeed...
