You already pay tax on your wages, why not pay that little more to get free healthcare?

What do yout current taxes pay for? Do you see that as socialist too?

How would you have felt if the first hospital that you took your nephew to, they refered hin to a heart specialist and didn't mention money or his parents didn't need to consult an insurance company, who at the end of the day aren't putting your nephew's health at first priority? They are there to ensure profitability of their own business at the end of the day.

Why are so many Americans against the idea of a free healtcare service, where all can go and get free medical treatment? And pay a subsidised prescrition for medicines! I really don't get it.

The only arguement I've seen is that its a socialist policy and Americans dont like socialism.
Work hard, look after yourself, those that don't , well they have only themselves to blame. Don't shoot me down on that as thats the only view that comes across.
I don;t buy the point that people have seen the UK's or Canada's health service and that its far worse as this isn't true.
I'm sure my English government would love to get rid of our NHS as they see it as a blackhole in their revenues from taxation, but it is a privelige that we take for granted.

No, my surgery was a complete success, I won't need anything, I do have a murmur in the left mitral valve, that they are watching, the only reprocussion I have is I have to take antibiotics when i go to the Dentist, since my periacardial sac has been opened, I'm more prone to bacterial infection. It depends on what state in the US you live in. I pay 6% sales tax. Some states it's 8%, some less! When you lump in all our taxes it's in the 33% range. With this HCR our all inclusive tax rate will be in the 46% range. If you look at all the states that are raising taxes because the revenue is slowed due to Unemployment it might end up higher!
