Saving this paragraph for future use;

I am not an atheist or an agnostic.
I am a Christian who has been an atheist in the past.
So I have no pro-atheist axe to grind when I ask this question;
What on earth is the point of Christians spending all this energy trying to demonstrate that atheists have a religion?
Where does it get us, exactly?
Supposing you manage to prove your point, what useful consequence follows?
Come on, tell me- where is the benefit of proving that "atheists and agnostics are religious"?
It certainly isn't going to induce them to change from being atheists and agnostics.
It's an empty. meaningless, debating point.
Why not divert all this ingenuity away from useless point-scoring and into some question more directly relevant to the debate between the two sides?

A quotation from Toynbee being saved for future use;

"A more creative kind of criticism is the kind that blows in like a sand-laden wind from the desert; for this usefully transforms the landscape. It finds out the softer rocks and scours them away, and it grinds away the harder rocks' sharp edges. Anything that still stands after this wind has done its testing work will be that much nearer to reality."

I copy this information here so that I can find it again more easily;

Looking around the internet, I found a site called Tithingdebate.com.
This is an offshoot of "Cultwatch", started because they see the modern push for tithing as one of the symptoms of cultish activity.
They talk about the growth of the phenomenon of "super-Apostles", who stress the importance of obedience to their own authority, and tithing is one of the demands which the "Apostles" tend to make.

P.S. Their page on SuperApostles

A reminder to myself for future reference

"Simple misunderstanding on Christian's part...
They seem to believe Jesus was talking about the 613 laws of Mitzvah when he said "not one jot or tittle will pass from the law till all be fulfilled"... of course he couldn't have been talking about those because he didn't hold to all of them himself...
What he was actually talking about was what James called "the royal law"
