ORANGE PARK, Fla. - Investigators in Florida have charged a 24-year-old man with murder in the slaying of a 7-year-old girl who disappeared while walking home from school last year.

Jarred Mitchell Harrell was charged Friday with killing Somer Thompson. He has been in custody since Feb. 11, when authorities arrested Harrell in Mississippi on Florida child pornography charges. Harrell was then extradited to Florida.

I hope this sub-human filth gets the death penalty. And that's the main reason for my posting this story here to ATS is the debate about the death penalty against people like this. I'm also assuming that this person is guilty based on the fact that he is also being charged on 55 other counts, not related to Somer Thompson, of sexually molesting a young girl and videotaping the act.

This pig is truly the definition of evil.

For those opposed to the death penalty: How can you possibly not agree that the death penalty is appropriate when someone like this plans the crime, kidnaps a 7 year-old girl, rapes her and kills her? What possible reason could you have for wanting to spare this guy's life? Considering the damage he has done to society, to the families of two, possibly more, little girls, how in the world could you possibly justify that he has a right to live a full life in prison?
