IOL this morning :

As Eugene Terre'Blanche's alleged killers are due to appear in court today, it has emerged that the AWB leader's decision to pay for his domestic worker's funeral could have led to his murder.
A week before he was bludgeoned to death, Terre'Blanche's domestic worker of 20 years died and he paid a sum of R7 000 to a local funeral parlour towards the burial of Rose Matheu.

And at the funeral home:

He sat together with the family, there was no racism, and he even offered the sister (Londt) a part-time job to help them through."

Things are never as they seem.

When is looked at my local news today, i got a very good idea of why some people are scared. We saffers are often ridiculed about the state of our country. So here are 5 new stories for today in the news, all from IOL.

Man beaten to death, wife gang raped, toddler assaulted

A man was beaten to death while his wife was gang raped and their four-year-old daughter seriously assaulted in the early hours of Saturday morning, Limpopo police said. "It is believed a gang of 15 men entered the family's house on a plot at Dalmada, outside Polokwane at 3.30am," said Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

Woman critical ofter being shot twice in the head

A Pretoria woman is fighting for her life in hospital after she was shot twice in the head while trying to save her mother-in-law from a gang of armed robbers posing as policemen. The gunmen got into the heavily fortified double-storey home, which is surrounded by security surveillance cameras and high walls. Inside the heavily-armed robbers attacked Steenberg's mother-in-law in her bedroom. Her startled screams alerted Steenberg, who grabbed her husband's gun from a safe and ran to her rescue. Steenberg ran downstairs and opened fire on the robbers. But one disarmed her and grabbed her around the neck. He shot her at point blank range, striking her through the temple and back of the head and she fell to the ground. The attack comes 10 days after matriculant, Ernest Hoon, 18, was shot dead in an armed robbery on his parents' smallholding less than 3km away from Steenberg's home.

Teen abducted for porn

A Cape Town teenager says she was abducted in broad daylight near Newlands Rugby Stadium by four adults who drugged her, kept her for two days, and forced her to pose naked for photographs. She had been in Newlands to attend an open day at a college when a Jeep with four occupants pulled up next to her to ask for directions. She said two white men were in the front, while a black woman and a coloured man were in the back. The following day the teenager said she was blindfolded and taken to another house where the pictures were shown to another white man. The white men had occasionally used a foreign language, possibly German. "He said to leave the Malawian woman and take me away. I thought they would kill me. They took me back to the first house and discussed what to do with me. I promised if they let me go I wouldn't say anything."

ANC needs corruption to survive

President Jacob Zuma continues to "benefit from corrupt relationships" to this day, Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille said on Friday. "We wonder how he can spend R65 million, which he has insisted is his own money - renovating his residence at Nkandla. And we marvel at how he can support his wives, his fiancee and 20 children on a single salary." Zuma's family members, including his wives, are involved in over 100 companies "some of which benefit from state contracts", Zille said.

ANC inherited corruption

ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe said on Friday. "...What we inherited actually corrupted us and therefore we are actually managing a corrupt system and a wrong value system. Societal values have shifted from "revolutionary morality to material ownership". The country needed reminding that life was not about "being in business".

I don't really have any comment to make really, just, there it is.

The saddest part is that is just a microcosm of the whole situation. Crime like this has nothing to do with innate race relations. This is just a case of the Government not giving a ***k.

Mantahse's statement abpout inherting the courruption is just excuses. There is no way he can blame the Governmetns mishadnling af state assets on the previous regime. Reading between the lines, to me, it sounds like he is saying that the govt is just not responsible enough to do the job.

The Cape Town article reminds me of when I was living in Newlands and my 15 year old next door neighbour used to do my head in by flirting with some of the scummiest people I have ever seen. And there was more than one occasion when I had to talk her out of "modeling" for some dodgy folks that she met where? Just outside the staduim near the taxi rank. I even had to pull her out of a strangers car once. It really wouldnt surprise me one iota to learn that their was an international Paedo ring operating in Newlands.
She was a bit of an idiot though, always ready to jump into someones cazr if they just promised her they would get her some weed (as if it were that hard to get in SA anyway.)

SA headlines are in a league of their own. I remember seeing a tv news headline of an even more bizzare than usual Muti murder and thinking "Anywhere else in the world this would be Sci-Fi."

And yet I would rather live in SA than any other country. Are we just as psycho as the criminals for enduring this chaos?

Some things are terrible, some things are great about SA. For me, things have not reached the point where I will make myself mentally ill by constantly pointing out all the bad things happening - I mean I live in a modest but nice townhouse, I drive a pickup that looks better than the batmobile.

I am a white guy without formal qualifications yet I have managed to find a niche in one of SA's top companies. I love my country and never want to leave - this weekend I am going camping and fishing, 2 months ago I was in Kruger ...
Crime is crazy, yes - but I refuse to let all those good decent hardworking South Africans down by abandoning ship like a diseased rat.

Interesting.

I've always understood that with rats, the young and healthy rats tend to abandon ship, while the diseased and old stay put - resigned to their fate.

Just a friendly observation: there comes a time when self preservation trumps patriotism.

I agree. He seemed a pretty obnoxious guy but if this is true it only goes to prove that few can predict how racists think. Everyone will add his death to justify whatever stance they choose. I never met the man and wonder if we will ever find out about his murder.

Make no mistake ... I was born in Zimbabwe and my family left in '79, it was the right decision as my father wanted us to have a decent shot at life. He succeeded.
And I will also consider my son's future - I also want to give him the chance that my father gave me. Another Zimbabwe is a sad thought.

But I honestly think that postive thought and action can eventually lead to a change for the better - in any case, it's better than the self-fulfilling prophecy of negativity.

da_ruse I think you got what i was trying to say. There's a mindset involved. 15 armed guys invade a home? Criminals dressed as police? Here in JHB, you don't stop for vehicles with blue lights at night, or so the police themselves warn, but when you don't, and drive to a cop shop or similar safe place, the police shoot at you and charge you with resisting arrest. WTF.

DeltaAlphaNobermber i hear you. It's precisely that attitude that gives me hope. It's that in spite of this we still thrive. Negative isn't the goal, but i would certainly call this a serious problem that affects us all. It's not a problem that will go away with nice words.

Vox242 you are right, but same time, if i had the means to take my children somewhere better i would, doesn't make me a rat. The fact is, due to the weak rand and high costs of living, most aren't able to.

But in terms of local news, it's a bit bizarre.

Looking at your other posts, I'll take it where it comes from.

This rat is staying and is gonna be the first one to laugh when you all have to flee back to South Africa and the gates are closed!

Buuwwaahahahaha!!!

I'm gonna love saying I TOLD YOU SO!!!

Whites have no job living in Africa. Africa is black man's land, let them solve their own problems their own way.

so by your logic no black man has any right to live in the UK or any other white founded land?
We can do with them as we please.

and can someone remove the word "reverse" from the title, it's all racism no matter who did it.

I would if I was still able to- The only reason I used the term was to clarify what the thread was about., and thought it was a widely used term on this site. I agree that there is no such thing as reverse racism- it is what it is...

Thank you so much for posting that video.

I will share it with as many people I know. Even I, as a South African citizen, did not know any of those things about Nelson Mandela... and that says a lot.

Thanks again.

one day there will be a world where race and sex and religion become mere myths. john lennon was a very insightful guy, despite the tragic mistake of keeping all his possessions.
