Interesting concept but...
I use to drive tanker trucks and the inside of those is not as large as this artist dreams...

however
there are more practical shipping container homes

True, but at least you'll be able to see all the aftermath of the devastation as you travel along your vacation of hell;besides I'm sure we can think of some radioactive barrier to shield ourself's from radiation as we drive along. We could have level 4 MOPP suites ready if we want to go outside--it would be like Fallout the videogame.

Just an FYI there are a few companies that sell you kits to turn a shipping container into a home... never seen one in real life myself but I was thinking about it as a kind of temp guest house or office cause its so cheap...

On the other hand... I always got a real kick of sitting behind the wheel of a big rig... grinding through a 13 speed tranny ... Yup I really do know what every switch and button on the dash is for...

Yeah, me too. Hauled corn syrup and glucose. Had to sometimes get in the tanker and wash it down. No way would I try to live in there. Standing on the floor I could touch the top and stretching out my arms I could almost touch the sides. They are not that big.

Container City!

These units, originally designed as live-work units, are situated near Battersea Power Station (as featured on Pink Floyd's 'Animals' album cover, an album containing the track, 'Pigs on the Wing'; don't know why that thought occured!). The accommodation units are fully fitted and suitable for single occupancy use.

I don't know how to create a link, but google Container City for more info and gallary pics on how these units are used in urban regeneration in the UK.

Hated hauling food tanks, to much washing from the inside out and they get damn hot in there too...

but I did take a turn at hauling double tankers

get you one of these rigs and the second tank can double as in-law-quarters and when mom in-law gets to bitching... pull the pin and grab another gear...

PS this rig was 110 feet front to back bumper 118,000 pounds and 36 wheels on the ground... surprisingly easy to drive as you don't ever back one of those baby's up!
