Your Video clip #2 was discussed here some time ago:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

He NEVER said Aliens built the monolith.

My .02¢

If I seem like I am defending the man, OK.

[edit on 22-3-2010 by kinda kurious]

Ummmm, your 2-cents is very enlightening however, if you refer to the first one, he does suggest that there (was) is something else out there besides us Humans.
And I thought the excitement in his voice about the monolith on Mars (or was it its Moon? Whatever) is very telling. It's my impression, he knows much much more than he's letting onto to. He just sounds very programmed.
Edgar Mitchell, Gordon Cooper and Story Musgrave all had a more laid-back nonchalant attitude when discussing the 'possibility' of alien existence.
Buzz Aldin just comes off perturbed.

On to a lighter note: (gotta love Borat)
Buzz actually thought this was a real interview! (eye roll)

I love all the rationalization in this post. Aldrin cannot have possibly drawn a different conclusion or genuinely think alien life is not visiting the Earth. No, it has to be he is a disinfo agent, been paid off, been threatened into silence, senile or a drunk. Does anyone have any evidence for these accusations, other than his crime of disagreeing with you?

What I find puzzling is that he denies the possibility of aliens visiting Earth. Shows that he knows something that he isn't telling.

A subject like aliens and UFO's is always wrapped in a paper of "unknown". You can state your opinion, but it goes either way. There is no proof of their visits, like there isn't (I know this isn't a very strong statement) any proof that they do not, ignoring all the hoaxes and made-up stories.

The fact that he is saying with some degree of certain that they do not visit Earth, is a bit odd, in my opinion.

I thought the exact same thing. It is strange enough that he has been stating all this crazy stuff lately and now calls it all fiction but to flat out say "NO" seems really odd. How can he be so sure that the answer is such a definite no?

I think he may simply be tired of saying stuff he can not fully back up, so is simply saying...you know what...nevermind, I am tired of endless years talking about this..its all fake, we are alone, let me enjoy my retirement.

Then would that not be antithetical to voluntarily going on a radio talk show? Either stay home and enjoy your retirement or as long as you pulled up to the big mic, what do you have to tell us?

Here's hearsay but........

Astronaut Buzz Aldrin confessed to have seen an UFO when traveling to the Moon
Posted on03 January 2010

The Bolivian journalist and writer Eduardo Ascarrunz, author of the historical novel “The Salt of Wonder”, which explains the story of the astronaut Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin about an unexpected encounter with a UFO, said “It’s a secret kept by NASA in half a century.”

The author pointed out to the media that “Aldrin confessed ten years ago but only decided to publish it with the approval of the astronaut, when he considered that the world was prepared for such a novelty.”

Aldrin walked on the Moon on 20 July 1969 and was the second man to do so, the first man who did it was Neil Armstrong, of the Apollo XI mission.

In his book, the journalist relates that “The astronauts reported to the control center at NASA in Houston, United States, that they weer escorted by an UFO when they reached the Moon. “

“Here we are, they are here, under our ship, we found some visitors,” said Armstrong to Houston, receiving as answer the request of being more precise, Aldrin recounted.

The dialogue that Buzz Aldrin told to the journalist was the following:

Aldrin: “I’m saying that there is other spacecraft. They are across the crater.”

Houston: ” have you succeeded in filming?”

Aldrin: “we can´t film at the moment, the cameras are photographing other objectives. They are under us, getting closer to the moon beside us, watching us.”

Houston: “What? Are they watching?”

Aldrin: “Yes, we are not alone.”

Mars or Moon.......whatever? It was a video on YOUR post. Don't you read the title before you post YouTube clips?

And somehow you can discern truth from his speech patterns? Unless you know the man, Whatever indeed.

If anyone thinks that after all this time a former Astronaut will "spill the beans" I believe they are sadly mistaken.

Often, things are taken out of context.

Example:

While the visible light images showed only darkness within, infrared thermal signatures indicated that the openings penetrated deep under the martian surface and perhaps were skylights to underground caverns.

antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov...

Context and perspective are huge in my book.

I have lost a lot of respect for Buzz Aldrin over the years. I remember when he mentioned that there was a monolith on Mars -- it was like he slipped up and said something he wasn't supposed to and then backed into a corner. This man is not to be trusted. And this coming from a person who has actually seen objects in Birmingham, England that to this day have not been able to be identified by terrestrial means.

Can anyone with any NASA related intel, please tell us if an astronaut (or anyone that handles sensitive data within NASA) has to sign an official secrecy act if so how long does that official secrecy act last for?

Also,

Could someone please tell us what the penalties are if the official secrecy act was to be breached.

Sorry Fran although perhaps NOT a direct answer to your excellent query,
according to original NASA charter:

“Sec. 205... (d) No [NASA] information which has been classified for reasons of national security shall be included in any report made under this section [of the Act]...”

While I often enjoy your contributions, I feel I must point out that the above statement is incorrect. Like myself, Mr. Aldrin is a recovering alcoholic.

www.cleanandsobernotdead.com...

His "battle with the bottle" is openly shared in his book Magnificent Desolation: search.barnesandnoble.com... (A great read.)

I have much respect for the man and his accomplishments but still debating how I feel about this latest revelation. Just wanted to correct your error first in the spirit of denying ignorance.

Regards...kk

Thank you kinda kurious. I meant you no disrespect. I know addiction recovery myself and the rough road that is to walk, so I support you and encourage you to stay strong.

I don't know the man and have no opinion of him, though this new revelation does make it very difficult to believe one word he says.

I think NASA pulls the same thing my parents used to when ever I would ask to go some place I wanted to go...."Let's say we did, but don't".

Peace

I would rather you took the time to read carefully the below statement.

EXECUTIVE ORDER EO 13515
Effective Date: December 29, 2009

Responsible Office: Office of Protective Services
Subject: Executive Order 13526 Classified National Security Information

This order prescribes a uniform system for classifying, safeguarding, and declassifying national security information, including information relating to defense against transnational terrorism. Our democratic principles require that the American people be informed of the activities of their Government. Also, our Nation?s progress depends on the free flow of information both within the Government and to the American people. Nevertheless, throughout our history, the national defense has required that certain information be maintained in confidence in order to protect our citizens, our democratic institutions, our homeland security, and our interactions with foreign nations. Protecting information critical to our Nation?s security and demonstrating our commitment to open Government through accurate and accountable application of classification standards and routine, secure, and effective declassification are equally important priorities. President, Barack Obama White House, December 29, 2009

What you have asked for comes into direct conflict as mentioned above.

- - -

EXECUTIVE ORDER EO 12968
Effective Date: August 02, 1995
Responsible Office: Office of Management Systems
Subject: ACCESS TO CLASSIFIED INFORMATION

Sec. 1.2. Access to Classified Information.
(a) No employee shall be granted access to classified information unless that
employee has been determined to be eligible in accordance with this order and to possess a need-to-know.

(b) Agency heads shall be responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective program to ensure that access to classified information by each employee is clearly consistent with the interests of the national security.

(c) Employee shall not be granted access to classified information unless they:

(1) have been determined to be eligible for access under section 3.1 of this order by agency heads or designated officials based upon a favorable adjudication of an appropriate investigation of the employee's background;

(2) have a demonstrated need-to-know; and

(3) have signed an approved nondisclosure agreement.

(d) All employee shall be subject to investigation by an appropriate government authority prior to being granted access to classified information and at any time during the period of access to ascertain whether they continue to meet the requirements for access.

Well, if Buzz Aldrin says so, I guess then we should close the UFO section and all go fairy hunting.

Buzz Aldrin is supporting his Presidents wishers "I don't think we should go back to the Moon and neither does the President" stating we will go straight to Mars and setup permanent occupancy is odd; a throw off maybe?
To setup permanent occupancy would it not be best to occupy the Moon first
to at lease experiment with being self sufficient and launch Mars voyages from the Moon less fuel this way.

Buzz Aldrin has always thrown ideas around for people to think outside the box. Does Buzz Aldrin Truly believe, go straight to Mars or is he Throwing Off here

If NASA drops the Moon invasion
they will forget how they got there and have to start from scratch again.

Buzz truly believes we should head right for Mars. There is a very lengthy article about it, with interviews with him, in a recent issue of Popular Mechanics, that details this.

This is actually the source of those insights and recommendations I was referring to earlier.

I tend to agree with Kinda Kurious and Gazrock on this subject. When Buzz Aldrin made his comments on the 'monolith' last year, it was an attempt to reignite interest in space exploration. He lived and breathed the greatest adventure of Mankind...to explore other worlds.

If he's become more reticent in his opinions, I'd suggest it's an outcome of being caught in the middle of opposing sides. His words get exploited. A good example is this video...

He's clearly describing a personal experience of UFOs during the Apollo 11 mission. In this other video, he's very clear that it wasn't a 'UFO' incident and something much more explainable...

The first video is edited, soundtracked and manipulates his narrative. The second video leaves no room for misinterpretation. He is clear that the 'UFO' was one of four panels of the upper stage.

He's likely so tired of being taken out of context that he now makes an effort to be utterly emphatic.
