Well, please tell me what part of the constitution was broken. If it was...and that's a far stretch...then you have nothing to worry about, as the SCOTUS will take care of any unconstitutionality.

My poll, well It's CNN.com, not MSNBC.

By forcing me to pay for somebody else's healthcare the government is stealing from me, telling me that I HAVE to buy something, and they are infringing on my rights.

Have you ever read the constitution???

You do NOT have a right to Healthcare.

You do NOT have a right to a car paid for by me.

You do NOT have a right to fly an airplane paid for by me.

You do NOT have a right.

Why is this so hard for you to understand?

None of that is from the bill. What it IS is a bastardized summary of some of the parts of the bill.

So no, IT IS NOT FROM THE ACTUAL BILL.

I have.. And while its a great work in democracy, there is room for improvement as we evolve as a society...

"I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and constitutions, but laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times." ~Thomas Jefferson

Good post really funny, VOTI,

What surprises me is the number of people lauding this bill just now asking for information on what is in it.

Yet, here we are.

I've read the constitution many times. Interpretation is everything. Like I said earlier...if you don't like it, vote 'em out...and have confidence that the SCOTUS will overturn...that is IF it's unconstitutional.

I don't think he was questioning your severity, only a different way you could have dealt with it. Believe me, hospitals almost always intake people now because of lawsuits from people whose problem worsened when they were turned away..

It might be a bad hospital, but its still a LAW.

Oh that’s just silly just because a bunch of self important crooks in Washington came up with a new way to abuse the constitution doesn’t mean I have to buy anything!

Insurance in fact is a form of gambling; some Casino’s even offer insurance as a gamble on some gambles!

Clearly though gambling is considered a vice and morally no one could fault you for refusing to gamble. Therefore it could not possibly be unlawful to not buy health insurance.

If you don’t want it don’t buy it and show some conviction of purpose and argue your beliefs in court if need be.

Believe it or not the government will stop doing this stupid stuff just as soon as we stop submitting to doing stupid things for them.

You have to pay rent/mortgage and utilities. Can't stop that.
You have to pay for transportation and food. Can't stop that.

Now that you are FORCED to buy health insurance, how will you afford it?

It looks like credit cards won't be paid. Instant default.
It looks like entertainment budget will be cut. Sorry Hollywood.
It looks like eating out will be cut. Sorry local restaurant owners.
It looks like any discretionary spending will be cut. Sorry small stores and giant corporations.
It looks like savings and investment will be cut. Sorry for you if you are trying to build a nest egg.

It looks like B. Hussein O. has really stepped in it now.

If your are concerned about your health and posting on these forms then you might want to start with the internet. It's pretty expensive, it requires a computer / connection. I would rather be alive, but that just me.

The constitution isn't a work of democracy.
Its the backbone of our republic.
A republic that places law above men.

So you think forcing people to pay for someone's services improves the constitution? lol wow. This country is soooo friggin' screwed beyond measure. Good god. I can't believe we've lasted as a country for as long as we have.

As a pure outsider, it appears that at its simplest, the new bill:

* Forces you to have to buy medical insurance

* The insurance you buy is bought from private companies that are out to make a profit?

What happened to the Government scheme that was tabled?

It sucks for sure - the health care bill should have meant that there will be a free service, paid via taxes, that enables everyone free healthcare at the point of use.

I think you were just shafted.

I also fail to see how forcing people to pay for something they can't afford will help them afford it.

SantaClaus....a bill is still just that, a bill. Any bill, that is passed by Congress, and is made into being, is added to our national debt. So, with that being said, how, if our national debt is unpayable at this time without the national health care program, will it be payable when it is made into being? Please explain this to me.

I don't mind helping the less fortunate or someone who is just going through a hard time for a short period of time. But I DO NOT like being told that I MUST purchase health insurance. I also DO NOT want to pay for an obese/smoker/dead-beat who knew the consequences of his/her actions. I take care of my self and make healthy choices (most of the time).

Also, I am not worried about rationing or death panels or extreme tax increses. I have faith in my fellow Americans that if anything such as the 3 things I mentioned above happen, there will be riots in the streets.

I think there are way too many variables to foresee how this bill will turn out when it is put into action. I think the best thing to do is to wait and see. Meanwhile, have your pick-axes and torches ready.
