Or as you understand it... a " free " utopia.

See, you can't win an argument by putting words in someone elses mouth. Just doesn't work against anyone awake at 6:45 a.m. drinking coffee.

I never said it was free. I realize it's going to cost us.

But guess what?

I. Don't. Care.

All of my life i have spent money on taxes to see it go to big business.
I've seen it go across the oceans to other countries that I don't care about, and that don't care about me.

I've seen it go to programs like Welfare, "Blacks Only" college funds, "Native Americans only" college funds, "Farmers" only College funds, etc.

I"ve seen *MY* money go to ALL those other programs that *I* cannot be a part of.

Now?

I finally have a program that will work for *MEEEEEEEEEEEE*

And to be quite honest, i don't care if you like it or not. Why? Because the difference this time is it CAN work for YOU too

I shouldn't have to pay $1,500 to get a few stitches.

A procedure, thought to be around since about 20,000 b.c. still costs the average American an arm & a leg, but costs the rest of the civilized world nothing out-of-pocket.

The only other thing that i can think of that has been around THAT long would be the wheel.

You ever pay $1,500 for a 65R14?

[edit on 24-3-2010 by Snarf]

Yah hope and pray it will will work for you when a committee gets between your doctor and you when you need a procedure. Hopefully you don't keel over waiting for them to make the right decision by you and not the governments pocket book. You put too much trust in the government to take care of you but being a government stooge yourself how would I expect anything less?

Yes ladies and gentlemen get your hugs in on grandma and grandpa now because their services are going to be the first ones to get cut. But I guess whats really important is if you get yours isnt it?

And as far as special services and exceptions going to special groups...How do you thing they are going to treat socialized healthcare any different? Now they get to play politics with you're life. Who would vote for someone trying to kill them?

Read the CONSTITUTION!!!!! Our president and our Congress BROKE THE LAW!
Since when is that right?

Show me where.

Please. Don't be like EVERYONE ELSE that says this, and actually show me where

Please. Do it for the sake of intelligent discussion.

Being a police officer I'd thing you would be very intimate with the details of the constitution. I'd think that you should have it memorized. If a police officer doesnt even know it and has to consult a board on ATS then thats pretty scary...Unless youre just not concerned with the rights of the people...

It couldn't be more clear that that healthcare isn't about healthcare. Its about controlling the people. Straight from Representative Dingells fat mouth.

I will return the please and say this. Obviously by your response you don't know the constitution. It is not my job to do your job and read the constitution for you. Read it and then you can know for yourself where it is. Trust me the constitution is NOWHERE as long as this illegal healthcare bill. And who knows you might learn something.

OK, I will state right up front that this has just got me steamed up! I log on tonight to find both my facebook page and naturally, ATS just brimming with the "OH NOEZ, WE'RE DOOMED" partisan panic crowd screaming the sky is falling because those evil bastard Democrats passed a Healthcare Reform Bill. How dare they spend our tax dollars!! OK, I have just one question for you 'Conservatives'...

WHY WEREN'T YOU THIS UPSET WHEN BUSH AND CHENEY WERE GOING THROUGH OUR MONEY LIKE DRUNKEN SAILORS ON SHORE LEAVE???

Where was your anger when Bush gave a huge tax cut to his rich buddies and created the damn deficit that being added to now??? At least that adulterous worm Clinton left a SURPLUS when he left office! Or is it OK if they waste our tax money as long as they have a frakkiin' (R) after their names????

Here's another question for all of you GENIUSES out there: Remember those really EVIL variable rate mortgages that were given out to people who couldn't afford to pay them once the rate 'varied'??? You know, the financial instruments that caused the housing market to collapse, put MILLIONS of Americans out of work, and had the Wall Street Banksters getting bailed out by us taxpayers??? Why are those frakkin' things still legal??? Why hasn't ANYONE from EITHER side of the aisle proposed legislation to make those wretched things ILLEGAL???

NO!!!

I'll tell you why, because ALL politicians, whether they have a (D) or an (R) after there names work for the same people, THE SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS!!!

So go ahead and whine and moan about the damn Healthcare Reform Bill... You have EXACTLY the kind of Government you DESERVE!!!

I find your wording in this Post Highly Offensive ..................REPORTED !

I don't know which side of the fence you're on pertaining to the topic, but I'm tired of you and all the other complaining that you are offended. In America, you do not have the right to NOT be offended, for one. Second, there is nothing anyone can say or do that can automatically "offend" you. It is YOU who have to make the conscious choice that you are offended, so the decision is up to you.

As for the topic at hand, one simply cannot compare the health care debt with anything Bush did (no, I'm not a Republican.) Obama has dedicated more money in one year than Bush did in eight years, and much of that money went to supporting the liberation of Iraq.

There was no Clinton surplus, and the tax rate cuts of Bush generated NEW wealth... not redistributed.... greater than the entire economy of China, and it all happened in under three years. For the past 4 decades, up to the start of 2009, it takes about 19 cents of each dollar to run the government. Just from the health care bill alone, in 30 years it will cost approx. 43 cents per dollar to run the government.

To those who support this health $$ black hole. You and I are walking down the street in any large city, and we see a guy standing there who tells us: "I need eye surgery soon or I will go blind." I take some money from my wallet and give it to him.... do you have a problem with that? OK, how about if, after he says what he does, I then turn around and steal the money YOU have and give it to him. You still OK with that? I didn't think so. Welcome to the world you support.

It's 2 steps in the right direction and 1 step back. Insurance companies still gain from this bill since they got more customers.

Why the USA refuse to get universal health care like all other western democracies, like Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany and the rest of Europe is beyond me.

Obama is good for the US but he should do more but I guess the greedy lobbyist groups are very strong.

Still it's a small step in the right direction towards universal health care..

First, America is not a democracy; never has been and hopefully never will be. If this "health care" thing goes through, in ten years where are the Canadians going to go for their health care? Too many of us have heard, seen or know people who live in those countries and have heard the horror stories about those "health care" systems. THAT'S why we don't want it. Obama is an Arab, Muslim communist, and he's good for America? Please don't move here.

Huh?

I live in Canada and I have no idea what horror stories you're referring to.

I had 48 MRI's done in the last 2 years. One every 6 months. I have paid a grand total of $0 for these.

The closest thing to a horror story I can think of is that I had to wait 4 hours in the ER when I broke my arm. But hey, I didn't have to pay for that either.

This bill is not that bad. You guys are mostly dramatized. With a few fixes the bill could be a great bill.
You guys are starting to sound like tea-baggers. Settle down relax.
I rather have the whole healthcare socialized if it was up to be. (No im not a socialist) -_-

You should post that article on breaking stories.

Excellent breakdown and I am sure the 5-4 swing would destroy this congress and Admin.

I would love to see a third party sweep this fall.

I have to wonder if third party candidates do get elected if the will sell out like all of the others. Money is flowing and freedom is getting up and leaving town in a hurry. They have all of the bases covered including this one I fear. They are a machine we are apathetic who do you think is going to win the fight for the minds and heart of America? Fear will rule. I hope I am wrong I truly do.

Fear is the mind killer. If the depression continues, I would not want to be anywhere near the coasts when the SHTF.

Oh well, I know of a place where there is no properties in a 500 sq mile area. Spring is in the air, fish, venison, berries, rabbit, squirrel just hopefully no large red mushrooms.

Sorry, got to laugh about it or go crazy.
