OH Pardon me. One only needs to take a minute to read some poll numbers.

59% Oppose

20. As you may know, the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate are trying to pass final legislation that would make major changes in the country’s health care system. Based on what you
have read or heard about that legislation, do you generally favor it or generally oppose it?

Mar 19-21 2010

Favor 39%
Oppose 59%
No opinion 2%

21. (IF OPPOSE) Do you oppose that legislation because you think its approach toward health care is too liberal, or because you think it is not liberal enough?

QUESTIONS 20 AND 21 COMBINED

Mar 19-21 2010

Favor (from Question 20) 39%
Oppose, too liberal 43%
Oppose, not liberal enough 13%
No opinion 5%

belowthebeltway.com...

It’s Time to Decide, and 54% of Voters Oppose the Health Care Plan

Need I go on? Perhaps you need help with your Algebra homework as well.

Ok think about this logically ladies and gentlemen:

- this bill will add 35million+ people to a healthcare system that can barely handle the current amount.

Lets not forget the additional 20 million illegals that we'll be on the hook for when they go for amnesty next.

As someone who lives in the UK, I find it hard to understand why America dislikes the health bill so much.

In the UK we have had free healthcare for over 50 years, Its provided to us thorugh our taxes, is the US Healthbill not the same?

Sorry to break it to you but if they tax it away from you or anyone else to pay for it its not free. Someone is paying for it.

Yup. Tax payers are paying for it. Just like everything else we have in this country.

Imagine that.

We pay for what we, as a collective, use to make our lives better.

Idathunkit...Your statement is completely true. Socialized healthcare however isn't free which was the crux of the previous post. Dont be so quick to play gotcha that you cant even take time to digest the information.

And hey, since taxes make our lives better why dont we just implement a 95% tax rate and then we can have our utopia. Or as you understand it... a " free " utopia.

It's 2 steps in the right direction and 1 step back. Insurance companies still gain from this bill since they got more customers.

Why the USA refuse to get universal health care like all other western democracies, like Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany and the rest of Europe is beyond me.

Obama is good for the US but he should do more but I guess the greedy lobbyist groups are very strong.

Still it's a small step in the right direction towards universal health care..

It's still astounding to me that any of you gripe, whine, bitch, moan & complain about ANYTHING our government does...left, right, liberal, conservative, Democrat, Republican, it doesn't matter...DON"T ANY OF YOU GET IT BY NOW ????

You want the real truth?

Whether performing or being interviewed I’ve heard George speak openly, frankly and sincerely about many subjects. He always stated that he felt betrayed by three things in life, as perhaps we all should…religion, government and his OWN SPECIES !!!

I don’t think I can say it any better than this guy !!!! (what an incredible mind he had)

In the next clip take note at 5:10 till the end when the young man asks about “hope” His insights into “no hope” and his so-called cynicism are brilliant not to mention that he sees mans only hope for survival as coming from aliens

Thanks for your help and sure ... lot still to be clarified

Hopefully though, you'll all come out of it by keeping more of your earnings while having less stress and worry to contend with when the unforeseen occurs and your or yours has to make an emergency dash to hospital

Still can't believe Americans have been saddled with such high health costs for so long

We employed a young Chinese girl a few years ago. She was dismissive of so many of what she considered to be 'old people' still in the workforce in our country. She expressed disgust, lol .. actually wrinkled her nose

So we asked her about China and were astonished to learn from her that the majority of Chinese live all their lives in houses owned by their government. For example, she and her parents lived in a house passed down by her grandparents, who in turn had had it passed down from theirs

She said all repairs to the house were paid by the government

At that point, I explained to her that the reason so many 'old people' in our country were still in the workforce was because no-one gives us a house that we can pass down to our kids. We have to pay for our homes ourselves and thanks to interest-rates, we end up paying as much as three times the original purchase price of that house, plus we have to pay approx. $25,000 to the government in Stamp Duty every time we purchase an average family home (and most people move a few times during their lives). On top of that, we pay Council Rates yearly and we pay for all the upkeep and maintenance

I thanked her though for opening my eyes about China. I'd had no idea their government provided homes for them. A home is said to be the largest single purchase most people make in their entire lives, and here were these 'poor Communists' getting a far better deal from their governments that we in the West get from ours

When she left, I told her to tell as many of her countrymen as she could about the 'rich West', where people work all their lives in order to pass on to their children what Chinese receive for free

Both she and I learned something that day

Thank you for this information.
It helps.
I own a six room cottage, shared between two people. I have an old fashioned mortgage, can afford it, and have several payments laid back just in case.
I had an intuition that my house would be taken away through no fault of my own, and in restoring it, left no furniture of good hand make nor antiques are attached to the wall, due to this intuiton.
Now I see the government will take it away from me, and hand it to someone else.
Now I understand the National Geographic article on the 16th Century farmhouse that had been in a family for three centuries, and was lost during the Communist Revolution. The family was sent away to a camp, and the house given to someone else. It's just part of the progression.
At least now I know I am not crazy for making my six room house into a multi-family dwelling and designed to take all my nice stuff with me.

I don't have any problem with the reform bill personally, except for one thing. Government mandated health care. People should have the freedom to choose. (Please excuse me if this came up earlier in the thread, I didn't have the time to read through all the posts).

My biggest beef with the entire system has been the slow and almost un-noticeable extraction of freedom from our lives. The vast majority of the time, it is covered with the veil of (because it improves our lives). This healthcare reform has been a huge undertaking, and it would be a great overall step in the right direction if it was left up to the people to choose for themselves whether they wanted to take advantage of it or not.

Obama himself was against such measures initially, NY Times Blog but conceded that it might be a workable solution only if it were affordable.

I disagree. People should have the ability to choose to deny coverage. It is as simple as that.

Hmmm I seem to have a case of conservatism. Whether any of you like it or not most of the people here are conservatives. We are the middle to left Democrats and middle to right independent and little r Republicans. We actually are the majority. However every time an election comes along we are only left with a far right Rhino or a far Left socialistic Commie type. Clinton wasn't too bad until he GAVE China the resources to send one ICBM containing multiple war heads. Where before they could only send one war head per ICBM. In case anyone cares HSBC owns you now that is actually Europe and China combined.
DEBTCLOCK
With B.O. care we are going to default for sure. This will kill jobs as the tax credits given to small businesses will not be enough to still remain in business. I'm very worried about losing my job of 13.5 years now just because of this legislation. Further cutting into the GDP then with the job market getting smaller they will do amnesty further putting more workers to job ratio over the top. It is going to be super depression with super hyper inflation. They are creating super monopolies like G.E.. Small business will be run out of the country period.

I have a friend who will have to decide which thirty workers to let go. They are good workers, but his company will take a loss if he keeps them under this plan. If his company goes under, then everyone in his employ is out of work, so it's cutting off a few to save the majority.
Make room on that unemployment line.

you make a great deal of good points. I don't know if your wording was best if you're trying to get people to change their minds, but since, you're just pissed and trying to make a rhetorical point, I guess you did it right.

Do we always have to resort to the Bush years and bashing conservatives just because something was passed today that we didn't like?

From what i recalled from the Bush years is a Congress who couldn't say no.

We still have the same problem.

Correspondingly, do we always have to resort to the Hitler era and bashing Germans when drawing comparisons to genocidal maniacs? Contrary to popular belief, the Jews don't hold the copyright on the word "Holocaust".

Lest we forget the "Unknown Holocaust" where millions were murdered by the Bolsheviks: Ukrainian Holocaust

Other notable genocides include: Native Indian, Japanese, German, Vietnamese, Pakistani, Rwandan, Sudanese, Iraqi, Black African, Muslim, Tasmanian, Armenian, Croatian, Indonesian, Cambodian and Ugandan, to name a few.

As far as the health debate goes, it can be summed up in one word... Quack!

This Healthcare bill is very similar to the one we have here in Australia. Australias Healhcare system is one of the best in the world!!!!!
Everyone gets a hospital bed, everyone can get an operation or an Ambulance or any number of things.
The fact that if you don't have insurance, you don't get a bed (even if your badly injured and dying, is pathetic!!!
You should be happy that if the time ever comes when you really need medical assistance, you will be covered and will only have to pay the balance after health care takes care of the bill.
You's ppl complaining are just about the biggest bunch of wingers on the planet..

In response to your post...First of all I didn't vote the current people into office. 1. Here's your problem, we didn't have a good choice to vote for, to start with. Obama is a progressive Democrat, 2. John McCain was a progressive Republican. So it made no difference who you put into office both are no good. People just had to have Obama in office your right, so now live with it. As for your mention of Bush, I told Bush 18 yrs ago, do not start something that will last for ages and become another Vietnam. Well he did anyway and so we have just that, another Vietnam. It kills me that people have the gall to say the "War" ...Folks, it is NOT a War. It is infact a Police Action all over again. Just another Vietnam with a different name, location, and a little different cause.

What is needed, a conservative that really cares. We need less government. Washington is dirty, it stinks. America was once the number one nation but not anymore. China has replaced us. America on its continued path will become just another Banana Republic. (Man!- that stings)! People don't want to hear that but it's factual. Until "We the people" get enough intestinal fortitude to stand up and hit Washington head on it will never change.

As for ObamaCare, it wont work, it's not worth the paper it was written on. Personally I think we the people need to hit the insurance companies head on as well. They're the very ones that say how long you spend in the hospital and what the doctor can or can't do. Insurance plays Doctor far too much! You don't say anything about that. You accept that and live with it. WHY? I got an e-mail yesterday morning, told of a 53 yr old man making minimum wage and expected to buy ObamaCare working 30+ hr's a week and was just told he's out of a job in April. He has a home with a loan on it. Guess we all know what's going to happen here. Well let me tell you something Washington, better give the Americans more money and start up some good long lasting jobs before you push ObamaCare on us. Oh, and Prisoners’ never have to repay their medical expenses? Why? You allow people from other countries to come on in the doors open , heck we'll set you right up with help for your kids, and the more you have the more we'll give, let’s see we'll help ya get a home, and help you with food too. Oh and medical. Yet a born American can't get crap and many are found sleeping under bridges right this very moment. WHY?

We the people are too busy, we don't care like we use to, it's rush-rush and get it done, I don't have time to worry about you anymore. My best friend about to have his fourth baby and brags to me...hey, Guess what, I'm getting $13,000 dollars back on my tax return, I don't own a home either and I'm living in government assisted apartment, the wife does not work. I'm getting food stamps and my kids are getting medical help. Ok, so here I set, all I'm getting back is just $887. WHY? It's just me and my wife. My friend and I both used the same tax person too. I'd give anything in the world to see congress, Washington for that matter, live on minimum wage working 30-35 hrs a week, buy insurance and food, and everything else plus have a car that's insured and taxed every year, buy fuel and when everything is said and done ...expect to make it.

Or as you understand it... a " free " utopia.

See, you can't win an argument by putting words in someone elses mouth. Just doesn't work against anyone awake at 6:45 a.m. drinking coffee.

I never said it was free. I realize it's going to cost us.

But guess what?

I. Don't. Care.

All of my life i have spent money on taxes to see it go to big business.
I've seen it go across the oceans to other countries that I don't care about, and that don't care about me.

I've seen it go to programs like Welfare, "Blacks Only" college funds, "Native Americans only" college funds, "Farmers" only College funds, etc.

I"ve seen *MY* money go to ALL those other programs that *I* cannot be a part of.

Now?

I finally have a program that will work for *MEEEEEEEEEEEE*

And to be quite honest, i don't care if you like it or not. Why? Because the difference this time is it CAN work for YOU too

I shouldn't have to pay $1,500 to get a few stitches.

A procedure, thought to be around since about 20,000 b.c. still costs the average American an arm & a leg, but costs the rest of the civilized world nothing out-of-pocket.

The only other thing that i can think of that has been around THAT long would be the wheel.

You ever pay $1,500 for a 65R14?

Please. Don't be like EVERYONE ELSE that says this, and actually show me where

Please. Do it for the sake of intelligent discussion.
