I would state again that these people knew of the law and when they opened their business they accepted that law. Are people to accept laws and then refuse them whenever they see fit? This is like me agreeing to pay for a loan on a car and then saying i don't want to pay because the law is unfair.

Then I assume I have the right to come into your home and sleep in your bed whenever I want because this is democracy according to you?

Or I should be able to be a NBA player even if I am shorter than 2m , or I should have the right to fly the space shuttle even if I am blind because this is the basis of a democracy?

Again you are talking about private organisations in comparison to public organisations. The people have decided that businesses cannot discriminate in regrads to sexual preference and so we apply that law. Sports teams are a choice, you don't have to be a basketball player, being gay on the other hand is not a choice.

It's odd you are unable to grasp these very simple concepts.

I agree -- sort of. I am gay and I also hate being in the same space with attention seeking extroverts; except that I don't like the straight ones who are that way either.

And as far as this thread topic is concerned, perhaps "annoying" people is one of the few kind that would rightly be ousted under the "right to refuse service" thing that businesses have at their disposal.

The sexual orientation of the annoying person(s) would not be allowed as a factor, however.

The NBA is more of a business than some person who rents a room out in their own bloody house

I actually think this woman is rude, but it is her B&B and her place to be rude- these two fools deserve scorn for involving the police, a summary of our retarded times all round

I'm fairly open minded myself - but i can see why some people wouldn't want homosexual activity taking place in their place of business and residence.

Sadly equality isn't equal and homosexuals are protected more by the law than people who are against this kind of thing.

Not that i need to defend myself - But i have gay, bi and lesbian friends... I work and socialise and study with most of them - so i don't have any issues, and if i ran the B+B i wouldn't care if they wanted to paint themselves green and attack each other with rubber hammers - as long as they paid the rent and didn't wreck the place.

Yes, we all have a right to an independent opinion -- but when to express it and when to keep it to oneself is sometimes more than just a matter of discretion; it is actually a matter of law; especially when it involves denying someone a service.

Having said that, I also believe as I stated in my first post on this thread, that sometimes its just not worth the aggro to contest every time you are slighted. I suggested then that this issue is anything but clear cut.

You know, there is principle, and then there is reality. I can live with the fact that the two are sometimes discordant.
