commies like you make my head hurt. Be glad I'm not the president. You'd be against the wall for treason.

Instead, you get the ignore button.

Yay freedom! Either you agree with me and my right-wing christian ways or I will kill you for treason! How American of you!

Very well said!

People in the US have a very warped sense of what socialism and communism are. They mistakenly keep using the word 'freedom' to describe what they have now!!!! Thats pretty funny.

I wish everyone could have a good watch of Michael Moore's latest couple of gems - Sicko and Capitalism. After watching and digesting these, them please come back and have a proper debate on this topic.

Cheers

I have seen the same thing in the last week leading up to this. There is not one person within 5 miles of me that doesn't have a firearm of some kind, and shortly after the bill passed, a couple neighbors of mine went outside firing into the air screaming obscenities. And I'm only about 45 minutes from Chicago, not some rural area in the south. This is going to get very ugly, very quickly.

We may have just witnessed the final straw!!!!! This could get very ugly and many Americans are very mad and feel they have no voice. No matter what side you are on when you mix this volatile cocktail together it can lead to very bad things. Are we on the verge of a revolution? I wish I had a crystal ball to look forward into the future.

Call me crazy...but no one I knew today personally seemed like the world was going to end because of this bill today. Actually, some were happy that they would be able to almost immediately cover their kids and keep them on their policies till age 26.

I'm looking out my window right now...and I don't see people in the streets rioting.

The health bill reminds me of election day for the most part. It has the same "feel" to it.

I'm a proud Socialist and will yet it at a NRA meeting in Texas!

Here is the mentally challenged American view of anything not right-wing; "You are a commie because Glenn Beck and Fox news said so." Add to that alot of those right-wing freaks believe that this country belongs to them and if you disagree you are anti-american and deserve to be imprisoned, forced out, or killed. I'm so glad to live in a 'free' country that allows all people to voice their own political opinion without being stereotyped.

Why is providing the poor with an avenue for health care such a threat in America? If it costs too much then take some money from the millitary budget. Shouldn't the well being of the American people be the prime directive?

Alright,

First off, I have to give AshleyD a star because she brought up leaving a worm in the bill. Awesome!

Now, Misoir you still are mistaking something in your understanding of something.

Socialism, Fascism, Corporatism, Democracy, etc etc etc. Can lead to a totalitarian state.

You have to realize this. The only TRUE freedom is based on LAW. Natural Law or Common Law.

This is what I have pushed all along. One CANNOT assume that ANY society is going to protect you. Nothing is guaranteed in life.

I just feel really bad for the younger folks of today when they realize what this bill is ALL about.

This bill is about Tax Revenue. Just as the EPA designation of CO2 as a regulated gas.

This is where I am going to stop. You have to look at history. You have to see that government has only TWO PARAMETERS. Tax or Control. That is it.

Do you want a system where only a few control the masses? Or do you want the masses to control through LAW?

Yes, the monstrosity passed the House and now the President will sign the Senate bill into law.

Anyone want to make a bet that the Senate won't approve the changes? If that happens then we will be stuck with the Senate bill.

I think that was the plan all along.

Thank you very much

Everyone else:

Now honestly, all those with firm positions one way or the other, have you actually read all 2074 pages of the bill? Or are you relying on someone else's opinion?

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that I will have happy or not so happy ending tonight as that is more reading than I can do this evening. But I for one am not going to be told by NPR, CNN, Fox, etc., crap even my congressman, because they are all damn liars, they all have agenda. And honestly, I really don't foresee any radical change to the existing system if for no other reason, the insurance lobby.

A word to the wise...
Please don't gloat in public for your and your family's sake. I don't think you realize the amount of anger out there right now. People are goijng to be looking for an excuse to vent all the pent up frustration and helplesness they have been feeling over washington for a year.

What saddens me about this is I am one of those 30-some million without health insurance, and that was by my choice. The reason being I'm not a sickly person and not a hypochondriac either. I worked for the government at one point, even had the sweet deals for insurance that the gov offered. I kept my insurance for a month and then got rid of it. I didn't need to pay, I think at the time, around $2000/year for a card that said I was covered. I had worker's comp to take care of me if I ever got injured, because the only risk I had of being injured or whatnot was on the job.

I'm really curious if becoming a member of the Christian Science or whatever it's called, where they don't believe in medicine, but actual prayer for healing, is an option to stay out of this wicked conundrum. They shouldn't have the authority to impede on my religious views just so others can be entitled to health insurance coverage (notice I did not say "cheap medical coverage").

I am reading the bill right now as best I can. At 100 words per page, I guess there really is no green movement in Washington currently. Never have I seen such wasted space in my life.

That is the problem with this bill. NO other budget concessions were made, meaning approx. $500B from Medicare gets reallocated to fund this, the other approx. $500B with come in the form of new/increased taxes. No other budget cuts or reallocation were made or even attempted.

The majority of this country is against the bill. OUR elected REPRESENTATIVES said "screw you" and passed it anyway. That is the way many people whether we like it or not, are going to look at it.

They said "screw you" when it came to the civil rights legislation which the overwhelming majority opposed. Are you saying that was a mistake too?

This bill is definitly not perfect, but atleast it is a step in the right direction. Now it will go to the senate and they could add the public option into the bill because they have 51 votes for it.

Dude, there is no way you can compare a bill that put an end to denying people the most basic civil rights because of their heritage and skin color to a bill that forces people to either pay the government for other peoples healthcare or to pay insurance companies more money.

That's like me comparing the war on drugs to the war on terror. Both are horrible but they aren't even remotely related to eachother.
