Well, like you said it is far more complex than that although many who support the bill's passage do understand the one word in that whole thing
"free". Nothing is free and unfortunatley in a time when people are scraping to get by this bill will add another expense to those who cannot afford
it. The democrats want this bill because they have an ideal of universal health coverage for every man woman and child. A noble goal to be sure.
Basically the money to fund this would be taken directly from taxes levied against your paycheck. However with this comes the pitfalls in that in
order to keep the costs down the government will have to interfere and regulate more aspects of our lives which is called a "nanny state".
This type of society where a government or a handful decide what is best for you as it relates to how it affects everyone else. For instance, if they
deem that people whom utilize the internet for more than an hour a day are using the healthcare system more becasue of lack of exercise or increase in
body weight then they would push to limit internet use by legislating it.
I am sure some of our UK members can give you a proper run down of a nanny state. However the supporters of this bill will claim that I am
exaggerating things and that something like that could not happen in the U.S. So to be sure, I have done my research and I ask that you do yours. Look
outside of what cable news wants you to beleive. Look at blogs alternate news sites and then form your own opinion. My opinion is above, and as such
should be taken as any other that may be totally opposite. Go with what makes sense to you about it. If it is something you think will be good for you
and the rest of us then by all means form your opinion as such. However also think about the consequences that are not readily apparent and elude alot
of people that support this. Hope that helps.
