we are pointing our fingers at the wrong people. first we must understand why we need health care then we will run around this live or die invisible box.

people can afford a lot of things, million dollar home, million dollar cars even their own island but when they are hospitalize, it will cost all they have and some to stay alive. why is that? and who is benefiting from your sickness and poor health or even death? the longer you stay in the hospital, the more you'll pay if you can't your family will, if they can't someone is going to. these people will save your life only to mercilessly destroy you in other aspect.

so, why does medical attention cost so much? why does medication cost so damn much? well, everybody wants to get rich and everybody wants to live and if you want to live you're going to pay no matter what the price is, you do not have a choice, its like breathing. now, we get to the people that are liable in cases where the people who received medical attention and could not afford it. well, it looks like you and i have to now won't we? no, we don't have to but since nurses and doctors need their six figure income and CEO's need to be compensated i guess we do need to empty our pockets for them. they can just say its ok, we're here to help and as long as we saved lives we're content. when hell freezes over and when pigs can fly in a frozen hell.

we spend nearly two trillion dollar a year to stay alive each year. in an industry where you have no shortage of customers and prices that will break a rich man are left alone, non paying customers are being paid for anyways by those that do, WHY did this bill pass anyways? greed, they don't get paid as much if i had to pay for your medical expenses. our politicians are all involved in lucrative businesses and whats more profitable than medical and pharmaceutical? two trillion a year and they all want a piece of that and when their pieces aren't as big as it should be, why not make it so through the government?

so you see, the problem here, in this case, isn't our government, its the health care industry. they are using the most feared institution in the american arsenal. it's not the CIA, not the FBI or even the NSA, its the one and only IRS. the IRS have been feared throughout the ages, nobody knows where they came from, all we know is, you do not mess with the IRS. it's been the downfall of financial empire, who are we lesser creature to contend with them? we tremble at their mails and stay awake all night terrified at what they can do to us. murders get life in prison, mess with them and the penalties are the same. bow to them you pathetic mortals. should an institution possess godlike powers? no, but who's going to say they can't.

personally, if you want to save your legs, it will cost you your arms. you're screwed either way.

My mind is already made up. Any Fed showing up at my door, is going to have a bad day. A very bad day.

After a little while, if we all continue giving them "bad days".....they'll stop coming.

If everytime the Brownshirts showed up at a Jewish home or business in 1930's Germany, they got beaten or shot, after a while, the Brownshirts would have stopped coming. Things would have been different. No concentration camps, no Holocaust.

It's no different now.

How much is Liberty worth to you? A question each of us has to decide.

Better to die on your feet, than to live on your knees. Isn't it?

I don't believe it will get that far. Most States are going to fight it tooth and nail. It's going to be tied up in the Courts for a long time. And it's pretty likely we'll see both Houses of Congress taken away from the Communists in November. At that time, smart Republicans and Independents, will simply run it through the repeal process, and it will be academic.

And we can enjoy the loss and humiliation it will cause Pelosi, Reid, and Obama.

I believe there was a little something in that last post for both of you. It doesn't take an economist to understand that in a free market, the cost for any given service will always be out of reach for a part of the population. In the USA, people need to mortgage their houses (and often lose them) or die because there isn't a insurance company there who is willing to offer medical coverage at a rate they can afford. In fact, the percentage of the population that have been unable to live with the security of health coverage in the USA has been epidemic for a long time. This is one of the most important human rights issues within the USA boarder. I only mention the other travesties overseas and within the banking industry to emphasize why there may ever be difficulty paying for health care (hint: health care will never be the issue that has bankrupted the USA). Greed and the Free Market has Disenfranchised a large portion of the population because they are too poor or too chronically sick to be helped by any insurance providers. This is one case where government intervention is not only needed but it should be expected from a government that claims to have it's citizen's best interest as their guiding principals (ideally an enlightened government would include all of humanity but that can be in an anti-nationalistic thread I will start soon). Can you say Social-Eugenics?

I pay for my insurance, and have no desire to pay for freeloaders. Freeloaders who refuse to get insurance are a huge reason why healthcare costs so much. Every time one of those morons gets sick they go to the emergency room, and you and I end up paying for it.

Are you so willing to pay for freeloaders? If so, then please pay for my insurance too.

Ok, this does not make any sense at all. First, you say you pay for the freeloaders when they go to emergency, then you say you don't want to pay for the freeloaders' health insurance. What?

It will cost less to pay for their insurance, than to pay that recurring emergency room fee.

I could not agree with you more. You have said it all. I work in health insurance, and to me it is a travesty to have so many Americans winging it without their insurance. I had to do it for decades, too. My wife got cancer, but thankfully we had been on health insurance for a few years. Otherwise, we would have had to pay $250,000 in health care costs...and gone bankrupt.

We are long overdue for a means to cover everyone. Business group health insurance does it all day long, regardless of medical condition.

I am convinced that this will be affordable, and lead to a healthier and more productive nation. People will not wait too long to get checked out, and they won't have to lose sleep at night wondering if their health insurance company is going to drop them over some trivial matter.

Dude, use that anger and apply yourself.

If you were in my town I would use you damn it.

Use that anger and begin interviewing for another position.

I know there ain't crap out there. I have been without a position really for over a year. Never been without a position before.

Frelling SUCKS.

Keep up the anger and apply it though. Get yourself a damn BEER if necessary. Give me a U2U if you get too out of control though.

yeah sorry all, I get riled up easily. I feel like I wasted years of my life and a small fortune getting a higher education only to find that there's no good jobs to be had anywhere in 3 states that I've been in. I haven't had but one real job in my career field since graduation and I am righteously angry about it. I make a little extra here and there working freelance on craigslist but it's not the big steady paycheck I expected to be getting right out of college. I'm not alone either, it's harder and harder to find good work anywhere.

as poverty stricken as I am, It irks me that I need to buy insurance or face a fine from the IRS.

It's time to take a long hard look at these "insurance companies".

Why should we trust them with our health care? Will the money really be there for our health care or will they turn into "fly-by-nights"?

Have any of you ever invested in an insurance company that closed up overnight and could suddenly not be found?

Have any of you ever lost a lifetime of putting in money because you forgot to "pay your dollar" one year? It happens. And there is no recourse.

Did you know many insurance companies have a secret life insurance policy on you through your old employer?

Enforced funds sounds reminiscent of the Brooklyn Brothers. You know---paying weekly so that your building doesn'tget burned down?

Why should we keep supporting the dark deeds of the corporate world?

I knew a farmer that had some holding to pass down to his children. He got sick and then he got sicker when he understood that he would have nothing to leave behind after the cost to keep him alive.

So he went out in the barn and hung himself.

Whenever I think of what is hard core in a person this guy come to mind.

NEWS FLASH: This STUPID bill does NOTHING to lower the cost of insurance.. the only thing is does is FORCE you to buy it! It FORCES you to buy into the Fascist system!!!!! In fact, all the provisions inside the bill will cause healthcare to INCREASE. Insurance plans will quickly become the escape route for the wealthy, while the little guy gets subpar government treatment.

I cannot see one good thing in this bill.. and the idiots that think they can usually have no idea what they are talking about. It's not even a socialist/progressive bill ..its down right Fascist.

Good post. I really hope that if it actually comes to the Feds banging on doors to "enforce compliance", that they are met with whatever force (deadly if need be), to show the government that we the people are not going to comply with this system, and for every action there is a reaction.

You seem to think that I don't believe in health care reform.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

You seem to think that I'm an advocate of free market economics.

Again, nothing could be further from the truth.

My problem with the bill lies with my problems with the whole insurance system. The problem is a for-profit health industry, and the bill offers the exact opposite of the system that I, and many other like-minded individuals, would actually like to see in place in this country. We still hemorrhage money through imperialist excursions overseas, we still spend untold sums of money on the incarcerations of individuals that shouldn't be incarcerated, we're still at the mercy of backroom shysters and corporate lobbyists and their so-called public policy and military think-tanks. 1% of GDP is still executive bonuses.

And then we have so-called health reform, dedicated to 'roping in' all of those 'rogue insurance companies'. Yet this all double talk, because the bill was written and compiled with consultations with the insurance industry and big pharma!

You can try and guilt me with facts on health care and the economy and the relationship between free markets and eugenics but it won't work - because I know these facts, and I agree with a great many of them. I am socialist-leaning, but I believe in large scale autonomy - and the draconian measure of forcing a populace into a system that will sustain a cold and heartless system such as the insurance industry is something that I will never go along with.

Have you stopped to consider the number of individuals that will lose their house or have less food on the table because they are forced to pay a fine or a service they can't afford. Do they matter?

This is one of the most important human rights issues within the USA boarder.

It's sad that some believe there is a "right" to force others to pay a highly profitable corporation for "insurance".

What an F-in joke our entire political and hierarchical system has become.

I like a few others on this thread, NEVER go to the doctor. I take very good care of myself and when I do get sick (which is very rarely), I use natural means to repair.

All this is, is another RAPING of the masses by the Elite, with their sock-puppet enforcers in the 2 party crime family. More tax slavery piled on top of the already breaking backs of the average struggling citizen.

Craziest part of this is, the joblessness situation just keeps getting more and more pathetic, and even those who DO find a job mostly subsist on PART-TIME work, so where in the hell are they going to get this money from, in terms of the already penniless average joe?

The greed of these folks knows no limits...

Sigh.

Why don't you all just start your own health insurance company and stop crying?

You guys need to look at yourself from a third person view and see how pathetic you all sound.

It really reminds me of a guy trying to help a scared stray dog that doesn't understand it's being helped as it tries to escape.

Now that people are forced to get health insurance, you and I won't be stuck with other people's health bill when we need health care. That will drastically reduce health care costs.... YAY.

If you can't afford health insurance after this reform, you might as well just go hang yourself and do us all a favor so we don't have to pay for your health care bills when you get hit by a drunk driver and are put on life support.

This commonly quoted piece of rhetoric makes no sense to me. Maybe you can help me to understand.

According to the logic of this rhetoric the health care bills that you believe you are "stuck" with are those of illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants generally don't pay taxes. This bill does nothing to allevaite the health care bills that you are "stuck" with.

All this legislation does is force people to pay huge profits to a highly profitable corporate industry. This is not health care reform.

If you can't afford health insurance after this reform, you might as well just go hang yourself and do us all a favor so we don't have to pay for your health care bills when you get hit by a drunk driver and are put on life support.

So, those that have lost their jobs or who do not have the means you might should go hang themselves. Do you truly believe that a person's worth is obtained through their means to pay huge profits to a corporate industry? You can't be so heartless?

Excellent post! ... If they really were interested in helping us, us mere citizens, they would eliminate the middle man: Insurance. Our county COULD have a great health care system, but this Fascist monstrosity only feeds the corporations. People, have you not noticed that EVERYTHING the government does is for CORPORATIONS!!!

What was the last health care issue that was "for your own good"?

Swine Flu.

Billions spent on vaccines, forced upon our population when proven unsafe and down right dangerous. Once the vaccination began, once the people were scared... it disappeared. Never heard another effing word about Swine Flu. No pandemic ever happened.. but the lines of share holders (gov officials) got lined.

How can anyone want to put these cowards, these thieves, these crooks, these bastards in charge of our health care system?
