I hope it dosnt pass. the government has lied and done more than its fair share of damage to us, let alone aorund the world, for greedy means of banking money. Last i heard yesterday, IF you dont have health insurance, yuo could face a $1,500 fine when taxes are done..and do it enough, prisonment. hiring 17,000 new jobs for governemnt accountatns for health reform, to me sounds like the ghestoppo of america. Spying and checking on your bank account and private right of freedom of selection.
Somehow, being threatened with fines and imprisonment over a poltiicians politcal agenda dosnt sit well at all with me. Governemnt has NO constitutional right to tell me whats good for me. Ilegal aliens in places like CA skip out without paying, and get all the special treatment at our expense...maybe its time we do the same. whats next, mandatory taxing for everytime i smoke or pass gas? i have to have a permitt to walk on the sidewalk or a special liscense saying its ok to spit?

Taking over healthcare by the government is just another nail in our coffin as a country. Our healthcare system no doubt must change. But all we are doing is shifting the costs. Manipulating numbers. There is NOTHING that Obama or the US government is doing to drive down costs. The only way you drive down costs in healthcare is to decrease demand and increase supply. How do you increase supply? You spur innovation in the private sector. When computers first came out they were extremely expensive. Now everyone has one. That's the beauty of a free innovative market. Same thing with healthcare.......we need less bureaucracy in medicine not more. We need less oversight not more. We need less control over our individual lives not more. The paternalism that runs rampant in America these days at the hands of the Federal Government is disgusting. I work in healthcare in the acute care setting and I can tell you first hand it doesn't matter if the government controls everything about healthcare and completely does away with private insurance........costs are not coming down. Nothing they are doing is change the fundamental problems with healthcare. Nothing they are doing is making us more healthy as a country to eliminate some of the stress on our system as it is. Private corporations and the government are killing our healthcare system. And all the idiots supporting each side just fuel the fire.

Even if it doesn't pass, they will keep trying. This insurance company bailout bill can fail 100 times, it only has to pass once. When it does, no matter how disastrous it becomes, it will never be repealed. Like the Patriot Act, it will be here forever.

Before Obama signs this bill into law, I hope he remembers the words of Woodrow Wilson:

"I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country.

He regreted signing the Federal Reserve into law, but it's still with us today. We celebrate July 4, 1776 as the birthday of the nation, I have a feeling we can celebrate March 21, 2010 as the day it is finally laid to rest, after suffering from a long fight with an insidious cancer.

If this vote fails, his presidency is finished-home and aboard.

I watched the President's speech and he has the gift of gab. Sadly, I think this legislation is going to pass and we are stuck with it. Over a thousand pages of legalize, and with wiggle room galore. This bill looks to be like a mandate on the American people?

He makes it out like the private sector is a failure and there is no way it can work itself out of this bottleneck on its own? There are to many questions regarding this bill, and if it was as simple as covering everyone, why is this legislation so long? The healthcare system is a bureaucratic nightmare and this bill only makes it worse.

I am in agreement that it is unfair and downright callous in some cases. However, can we expect the government as saviors when we see that everything it gets its hands on is an abysmal failure. Just look at the debacle of the US Postal Service, and all the debt that institution has accumulated. That is just one example, but there are so many others.

Healthcare reform is reasonable and necessary, but not with this bill. To many smoking mirrors and unclear language. Plus, the cost is rather excessive, and will only marginally pick away at the national debt. As it stands now, more money is going into this bill than is coming back in savings. This is deal, when more money is going out than coming in? I think if I remember correctly, this bill will cost a trillion dollars over 10 years and will pick away about 150 billion from the national debt.

Sadly, the money is not there for something as massive as this bill. Remember the trillion dollar amount is only an estimate and it could very well cost significantly more when the rubber meets the road. Moreover, with almost every piece of legislation that is authored and made into law by the President and Congress, there are cost over-runs galore. This could very well bankrupt the country if the politicians are not careful about how they proceed on this bill. However, if it is to be, it will be. It seems this legislation is a done deal, and all we can do now is hope that it is not a disaster?

Oh yeah, if anyone thinks the Republicans are the saviors and the answer to the problems, think again! Look at the all the pork and astronomical spending when they held the majority in both the House and the Senate. They are just another mangy dog with fleas. The US is in for a world of hurt, and it will be either the Republicans or the Democrats at the helm when the ships sinks.

This country is on a collision course with destiny, and it is a destiny experienced by another remarkable civilization in its day, and that was Rome. Rome ate itself up from within, which seems to be going on right now? They seem to be digging the ditch deeper and deeper by the day? In regards to this bill, I will close with an old adage: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

I suspect that it will pass, unfortunately.

That said, I don't think the states are going to just roll over on this one. I know there are several private groups and several states also planning to file legal challenges against it as early as tomorrow morning if it does pass today.

In the long-term, its going to come in well over budget, won't improve the quality of healthcare, and will saddle the American public with a mandatory bill to private industry that many can't pay right now. Politically, I think this bill will be the end of the Democratic party for the foreseeable future...possibly a generation. Oh well. Its their mess. They can reap the 'rewards' of dumping this steaming pile of garbage on the public.

What we have now for healthcare is a pure form of crap and nobody seemed to give a damn about it until Obama. So hopefully he will change it and that will have to be fixed, and that will have to be fixed, and hopefully we will get to a place where people don't have to go broke trying to get well.

I'm glad it's going to pass, though not perfect and not what I wanted it's a step in the right direction and I recall reading that there is some legislation in there to protect, perhaps retroactively the outrageously price gouging the insurance industry is already doing just in the last few months.

I think it's going to be very helpful to people with pre-existing conditions, many of whom are in the 50 - 64 age group. The companies will still be able to charge them more but not more than %300 what of they charge anyone else - if you know someone who was a chronic illness you may know that these people can't get any health insurance as it is now - it's still terrible.

I think eventually there will be the public option and I'd like to participate in that even though I'm in good health I will be happy to see the industry get some competition from a large pool of those who go this route. My GP is in favor of all of this...but I don't think anyone of us are in favor of mandates - as it turns out the large majority of people complaining about mandates will have subsidies available to them to help with the cost.

He might try that, but it won't work. Most of the American public is sick of the wars by now and don't have the stomach for another.

More likely, they'll manufacture some kind of domestic incident in the last weeks of the election cycle and use it to smear their political opposition.
