Jupiter may have a new ring that was created by a smash between moons.

The possible ring appears as a faint streak near Jupiter's moon Himalia in an image taken by NASA's New Horizons spacecraft. The telescopic camera aboard the Pluto-bound probe snapped the ring in September 2006 as the craft was closing in on Jupiter in the lead-up to a close encounter with the planet the following February.

entire article: newscientist

I know the article says the picture was taken in 2006 but was posted yesterday.

The entire article goes on to talk about smaller moons eroding away over time. Thinking about how maybe the ring was formed from a smaller moon colliding with another only makes me think about saturn. The ring system there is enormous! Imagine how many moons would have to have been destroyed to make such a magnificient sight.

edit to add link to article, sorry

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by your post? I like the planets but I by no means have the ability to put a ring on them

S&F cause Jupiter is a favorite topic of mine where Velikovsky
is concerned and this was probably predicted by Velikovsky in
his many writings.

This is a very interesting read, thanks for linking it. I read through a couple of the Jupiter articles to start and went back to the introduction. I probably won't be able to finish it tonight but I'll bookmark it.

We should be OK if the Jupiter disturbances stay local as apparently
has been the case for the last 2000 years.

I just stopped by the bolts powerful enough to make nitrate deposits at
the Dead Sea and Chile and recall how Tesla claimed an achievement
in making fertilizer from his tremendous static voltage generation.
With such great deposits available sounds like another useless invention
yet I think he wanted to show off the power generation ability.
