I am thinking that the food these people are eating is laced with hallucinogenic goodies. People that don't have a clue about
the real Messiah are grasping at straws. The only Messiah is Jesus

alright, because in the end I will be able to say, "we win".

It is stated a number of times in the Bible that in the end times, there
will be many falsh Messiahs or Prophets. This person named Patel
is another one of them. And some people say that Christians are
believing in some sort of fairy tale !! Jump on the false Messiah wagon
and indulge in some of that food that tastes so yummy.

Like I said, hang on to your hat. I can say I have won because I know
I am going to Heaven to be with the Lord one day. The false Messiahs
will go down to the bowels of the pit and spend an eternity with hell.

I am only saying that if anyone really believes in this Patel, I truly feel
sorry for them and I will say a prayer for all of those folks tonight.

This is clearly what I was referring to. Read things more clearly next

There once was a messiah, it lived for a few nano-seconds in the womb- just long enough to make its mark on this world to set things on the right path.

And he will always be named Jesus.

Poor poor guy. Sadly, this thing has always been going on and still is goin on. It was even going on in Jesus's time, how else do you recon christianity came about? In jesus' time, there was many people who were either self proclaimed or seen as the "savior", "son of god" "world teacher" etc etc. It just took of with jesus, maybe because, like this guy, he never said he was in the begining. (However he called himself a teacher, which he was, which people most likley took as teachings from the god or what not).

It says towards the bottom of the article about another situation like this, and another that nearly happend in 1985. All the same with the cults that people hear about, but in them cults, the person who is looked upon as the son of god accepts it and abuses it.

And by the by, for the sake of the thread, i think we should stop the whole jesus vs "unbelievers" before it turns into such a farmilier thread that we have ALL seen before, and it just seems to repeat itself over and over.

Instead of the hard work of "doing", instead of believing in One-self (ex., the Kingdom of God is within), humans are still waiting for the Messiah. The Something, the Someone, outside of themselves to save them, from themselves.

Life is a hard lot for many, and humans seek meaning and Love, but the quest usually seems to lead them astray. Bless our hearts. No "one" will save us from the Storms of Life. We have to learn to swim and to teach others to learn to swim. We need to understand and act on the Message, and quit trying to anoint the Messengers.

And why the hell is this Messiah always male? It could just as easily have been Frances Moore Lappé! At least she had a cookbook.

sorry, i never heard of him before, but he sounds interesting.

i've always believed that the one thing that should disqualify a person from gaining a leadership role is a desire to lead. if anyone is ever going to make the world better, he'ld have to reject power, adoration and title.

whoi knows if he's the real thing, the great teacher probably won't come with a certificate of authenticity. he certainly has a message to share & i could think of worse candidates.

Sort of like Monty Python's Life of Brian. The main character was mistaken as the messiah. He tried to tell the crowd of worshipers following him that he isn't the messiah, but everything he says is was taken as doctrine or commandments instead. A great film for those that are secure in their faith and not easily offended.

Seriously, I feel bad for the guy. It's not like he is trying to be a religious figure. The nuts following him just don't want to hear the truth. Though, likely they would be following some cult figure if they weren't following him.

I wish not to sound callous or Machiavellian, but Raj Patel could use this to his advantage and encourage these followers to do something positive.

If you are a political activists, campaigning against the suffering of humanity, the poor and the environment, would you denounce these people or (if they believe you are The One) get them involved in your actions.
