I moved to the UK to marry my husband and to settle. My family lives in the US and even though we talk via skype as much as we can, we all have Facebook accounts so we can keep in touch daily and keep up with what each other is doing on a daily basis. It's also a way for me to keep in touch with my friends whom I don't call often via skype. I do not accept any friend requests for people I don't know and I have my privacy settings set so that only my friends and family can see my pictures, wall ect....I don't consider Facebook anything more than a way to keep in touch with the people I want to stay in touch with.

Who would be the police for that social networking site? Where would the line be drawn between the overuse and the acceptable? I assume it would have to be a site where one would have to pay a monthly fee and accept a detailed terms and conditions. For example, you may only update your status once a day (or week), upload 10 photos per week, and send 6 private messages a month. This seems very limiting; who would sign up for it?

In my site I would allow people to post all the photos they want, however the photos cannot clutter the newsfeed. That way, if someone really is interested in seeing pictures of me hanging out in some bar they can go on my page and look at them. Otherwise, most people do not want to know about the bar.

I would reserve the newsfeed for a limited number of major life events like: births of children, engagement announcements, wedding announcements, graduations, and new jobs. People would be limited as to the number of announcements they can post in a year. The announcements can come in the form of a template where the announcer just fills in information into fields. For example, the announcement can read [person's name] announces the birth of [his/her] [son/daughter] [insert baby's name][insert baby's weight (optional)].

I found old friends there and talk to folks. Like you I stop by once in a while. I piss people off too because I ignore practically any friend request that I don't actively speak to. I really don't care what all the high schoolers who never spoke to me before are up to now.

The greatest button on their is Hide. I have a few people I hide because they swamp my page full of stuff I don't care about

Facebook right now has options to select who you see in your newsfeed and what you see. I have chosen to remove all the silly game applications that my friends play, because I don't care how many chickens they have in Farmville or what gun they need in Mafia. Not discrediting your ideas, they are good, but to a certain extent Facebook already accommodates them. I wouldn't want to sign up for something that pigeonholes me to a maximum per year. Some days I have more to say than others. I hope you find your social platform in the future!

Are you being serious? That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I am honestly, truly hoping you are "trolling" with your post.

Facebook should be shut down. any user is allowed to put anything they want in a headline without any consequences. Its high time we limit these people from being allowed to spread their propaganda. There are no mods that monitor what people write in their status and rarely are they banned for this disruptive behavior. Facebook should have been shut down ages ago. In order to have freedom in this world we need to be on the same page. Too many people just say what they please without consideration for society. Politicians need to start reigning in this kind of abuse by shutting down those sites that allow people to freely post information without any disregard for society. Be an american and stand up to this menace united facvebook can be shut down for GOOD!

I adamantly disagree with your entire post.

If I want to go on my facebook and spew the most hateful, derogatory statements ever... I should be entitled to. And no one should be able to say if I can or can't. It's freedom of speech. Internet censorship can take a flying leap. And so can your post.

No offense. But that was absolutely absurd. Please tell me you're kidding.

And for the record, if you don't believe the site is being policed. There were tons of Joe Stack fan pages that got the boot.
