India wants to question U.S. man on Mumbai attack

www.reuters.com

India is seeking access to interrogate a Chicago man who pleaded guilty to scouting targets for the 2008 Mumbai attacks in a U.S. court this week, the Home Minister said on Friday.

David Headley, 49, admitted involvement in preparations for the attack on India's financial hub, which killed 166 people and prompted India to break off a formal peace dialogue with neighboring Pakistan.

David Headley

This is a very interesting case. Those who are not aware of the background, it's shrouded in mystery. David Headley also known as Daood Sayed Gilani has been cited as a CIA mole and at times he has been been called a double agent. But it's still unclear who he really was working for.

Headley, the 49-year old terror suspect, arrested by FBI for his role in Mumbai attacks, had visited India in March 2009, four months after (an earlier) Mumbai attack carried out by LeT but FBI still did not inform India that Headley is a LeT operative, apparently fearing he could be arrested in India. (S)

Headley was also arrested for heroin smuggling in 1998 in New York, according to reports, which was when he is alleged to have been recruited by the DEA.

Now this guy has confessed in court his role with planning etc. in terrorist activities. Should India be allowed to interrogate an American citizen? Will CIA/FBI etc. allow the extradition of David Headley to India who according to various Indian sources is being called a CIA mole/ double agent? That my friend remains to be seen.

That is an amazing difference of the two photos. What a difference a tan and a mustache make. If India wants him, and the USA says no way then I say hand him over. If the USA hands him over then I expect there will be no new information.

I did actually do a thread about this a few months ago after watching a channel 4 report on it here in the UK. I was surprised it got so little attention as this is evidence of US involvement in terror attacks.

Oh yeah, India is attacked by this and that!
But, more regularly by her own people!
In Australia we have had a spate of Bollywood Mishaps!
1) Indian man murdered and buried in back yard ( By Indian couple)
2) Indian man bashed and burned as hate attack ( security cameras catch insurance job gone wrong)
3) Indian boy murdered and left in a field ( Indian man, whom was flat mate to family sentenced for MANSLAUGHTER). drove with the boy in his cars boot for 3 hrs!

So we here in Australia are sooo racialist towards Indians!
I'd hate to see what India's definition for her own people is, in this respect???

Australians deserve an apology!
