I remember my grandfather talking about growing up in a single-room shack with a dirt floor. No electricity, no cars, no running water. No
windows. The kids went barefoot all the time. They had only one pair of shoes and all the kids would share it, each wearing the shoes only when
he or she "went to town."
Compared to those days I'd say most of us still alive have it pretty easy, at least in the developed world.
