Obama endorses immigration blueprint

President Obama on Thursday gave a thumbs-up to the framework of a plan to legalize illegal immigrants and create a flow of low-skilled foreign workers for the future, saying the bill being worked on by a Republican lawmaker and his Democrat counterpart is "promising." [...] The senators said their legalization approach would be a "tough but fair" program that would require illegal immigrants to admit they broke the law and make them perform community service and pay a fine.

Illegal immigrants would also have to demonstrate they are proficient at English and pass background checks to gain citizenship.

Yeah I'm sure by the end of it those provisions will be gone.

White House Won't Rule Out That Obama Will Sign Other Bills--Such As Immigration Reform--That Are Not Put to Yea-or-Nay Votes in Both Houses

Dems Already Looking Ahead to the Next Fight: Climate Change

The fate of President Obama's health care reform package is still up in the air, but he appears to be already taking on an equally challenging and contentious agenda item -- climate change legislation. Former President Bill Clinton met with Senate Democrats today to talk about climate change, CBS News Capitol Hill Producer John Nolen reports. The visit follows a meeting in the White House last week Mr. Obama had with 14 senators, including six Republicans, according to Daily Beast columnist Richard Wolffe. "The White House remains surprisingly confident that they will be able to pick off enough support from the opposition party to move forward on these major issues [including climate change], even in an election year," Wolffe writes.

These people will never stop... they want to do everything before being kicked out of office... because they know they don't have consent.

What's next? Using the slaughter rule to make himself emperor?

The Slaughter Rule is nothing more than AN EMPEROR DECREE AND THEY AIN'T AFRAID TO USE IT.

Create a flow of low-skilled workers? We have our own legal citizens who can fill those jobs. We have millions of un-employed legal citizens, some falling through the cracks.

I do like the background check!!!!! That is essential! How much of a fine I wonder? And what about all the people who have been waiting in line going through the proper channels? Will the illegals be boosted to the head of the line? Will we all have to get tamper proof ID's now?

I'm thinking that many illegals are not going to want to pay a fine or have a background check, like gang members etc. Will they be deported or jailed? This should be inetersting in any case.

Oh, just noticed that the illegals will have to be proficient in English. WOW! I for one am tired of losing out on opportunities for a job because you have to speak spanish and english because they say most of their workers speak spanish. These were factory jobs! Many people are fortunate to be able to easily pick up another language, I'm not one of them. And I resent that we as American citizens should have to cater to an illegal foreigner who has no desire to learn our language or become a citizen.

Well now it looks like they will have an opportunity to become citizens and learn the language.

100.000 (illegals) immigrants to march on Washington to push reforms

NEW YORK (AP) - Tens of thousands of immigrants are making their way across the country to the nation's capital to rally Sunday on immigration reform.

Organizers hope to see as many as 100,000 people. Mostly Hispanic, they include day laborers walking from Hempstead, N.Y., and Californians who sold tamales and fruit to pay for their trip. At least 700 buses are expected from 28 states.

They will likely have to share attention on the same day as a possible vote in Congress on health care reform.

That's one of the issues that has sidelined President Obama's campaign promise of reform and possible legalization for the estimated 12 million people in the U.S. illegally.

Reform advocates met with Obama last week. He also met with lawmakers who are drafting legislation. It's not clear if Congress will get him a bill this year.

This country used to beg people to come here.

Why don't we want immigrants any more?

Oh yeah, we became a socialist police state and now our industry is imploding and we can barely find jobs for our existing population.

Remember Ellis Island? The Statute of Liberty? The Mayflower? etc..

If they're successful in using it for something this large, they'll use it on any other legislation they would otherwise be unable to pass. Clearly, with this administration and Congress, the ends justify the means. They don't care about the integrity of the process as long as their ideological agenda is enacted. They're making a complete mockery of the Constitution and the process by which we enact laws.

If there's some reason for hope, I do know that a number of private groups, plus a few state governments, are planning on filing suit in federal court within 24 hours of this thing becoming law. I don't trust the federal district courts, but I do think there's a better than 50-50 chance that the USSC will rule portions of the bill unconstitutional and perhaps the process itself.

We'll see. I've never been more concerned for the future of this country than I have been the last two weeks.

Sadly, the wild-eyes liberals who mouth-breath their way through the fantasy land that they believe is "life" will never see this for what it is - a FASCIST DISCTATORSHIP. Almost everything I am seeing our of this administration harkens back to Hugo Chavez's early days in office - and we all know how well Venezuela is doing these days!

I suggest that perhaps we should consider moving all of these fools to California and let them have their own little fascist/socialist utopia. It would be fun to watch it collapse in a few years!!! EVERYTHING socialist or fascist HAS COLAPSED! Why? They always run out of other people's money to spend.

Why can't people seem to rouse themselves from this slumber???
