Not sure how you meant it your comments, so please excuse me if I interpreted your remarks out of context, but the problem I see it is the advancement of this idea that the UK faces a serious terrorist threat, one that needs to be combated by watching and reporting each other for any suspicious behaviour.

It's being ramped up further and further in the UK.. Every 10 mins the adverts blast out of my local radio station of this revitalised terrorist threat to our safety.

The principle of watching your neighbours and reporting them is rather disconcerting.

Why the *extra* high level of vigiliance being asked of the British people? Why this extra level of fear mongering..

Is it to drive home the point during the election that Gordo was right in his stance on Afghan, or is it some thing more sinister..

Personally I think the whole thing is going to far when it starts to be ok to read what other people are writing, and then to report them for writing something you don't like, has a whole new sinister tone to it..

Edit badly written bits

I think the two are linked. It is implied that Rail Staff saw him writing "killers", then asked him off the train to be stopped and searched BY THEM!

As far as I can ascertain, there is nothing legal about that at all.

The Government is thinking of giving British Transport Police (BTP) the power to "accredit" certain Rail Staff to have "limited" powers to help curb anti-social behaviour, but that hasn't even been drafted yet.

This man shouldn't have been searched by them and should have stood his ground.

You don't have to give any details, even to the Police, unless there is a valid reason to suspect you committed a crime and the European Court of Human rights has recently ruled that the Stop and Search powers granted under the Terrorism Act 2000 as illegal anyway.

If I was him I'd make a complain and a bloody big one, but he comes across as a total lemming who wont press the issue because he "understands" why they did it.

Sod that man! They broke the law and your letting them get away with it!

Its called propaganda, conditioning, NLP, etc.

If you are looking over your shoulder at your neighbor all day, you wont see the enemy advancing from the front.

Locally those who vandalise public tech are now being labelled terrorists by the Gov.. soon everyone will be a terrorist in their eyes..

To be honest, I find this utterly disgusting.. and the sooner some one kicks this gov out the better, this fear mongering has to stop..

Indeed, it's why they can get away with it. Even fines on the street are only legal if you agree to it.

We once got out of paying a fine when my missus lost her train ticket as she didn't sign the little slip they give you. All while that was going on, a Plice officer was being very arrogant and rude to me, with the desire to try and provoke me.

Apparently, despite being a foot shorter than he and laden down with shopping, I was being "intimidating" just because I was telling my missus to stand up for herself and refuse the fine, as I had the reciept of the train ticket (as I bought them both for me and her) but the little one had binned her copy on the train.

I asked him how, exactly, I was being intimidating and he claimed I was in breach of section 5, POA (a typical response by Plod) despite me not shouting or swearing. I politely reminded him exactly what a breach of Section 5 entails and we walked away.

They did chase for payment, but when I asked if they had a signed slip from my missus, they "couldn't find it" (as it didn't exist) so dropped the whole thing.

People need to grow some balls and challenge these laws, otherwise we will daydream into a nightmare.

EDIT: I'd also like to point out (as I did to the Rail staff and Police) only an officeer of the Law can issue a fine and again, this is only with your consent. As guaranteed by the Bill fo Rights 1689.

Point being he was "questioned and let go" by people who had ZERO power to do so! I assume that you'd be fine with me removing you from a train, searching you and checking your ID?
