Doctors provide emergency assistance in any number of different situations: road accidents, accidents in the workplace, heart problems, a fall from a bike. It could be you; it could be a relative. No one is immune!

In America, there's also MedicAlert. They can provide you with a card AND a bracelet that contains vital info. They initially charge ($35, if I'm not mistaken) & a smaller yearly fee to set you up with the intial ID materials & to enter your info in their medical database...Doctors can call them to get additional info in the case that your medical problems are too long of a list to print on the card or bracelet.

The older you get, the more you are subject to common ailments like high blood pressure. Many of my friends wear MedicAlert bracelets -- I also have one because I'm allergic to pennicillin and codeine and sulfa drugs.

They are lifesavers and if you have these problems you really DO want to have your info on file somewhere and accessible.
