A government sponsored global warming propaganda campaign directed at children received a chilly welcome in Britain. The ads which used the nursery rimes "three men in an tub" and "Jack and Jill" were pulled due to their unscientific exaggeration of the supposed problem.

Government rebuked over global warming nursery rhyme adverts

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled that the adverts – which were based on the children's poems Jack and Jill and Rub-A-Dub-Dub – made exaggerated claims about the threat to Britain from global warming.

In definitely asserting that climate change would cause flooding and drought the adverts went beyond mainstream scientific consensus, the watchdog said.

It noted that predictions about the potential global impact of global warming made by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) "involved uncertainties" that the adverts failed to reflect.

The two posters created on behalf of the Department of Energy and Climate Change juxtaposed adapted extracts from the nursery rhymes with prose warnings about the dangers of global warning.

One began: “Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. There was none as extreme weather due to climate change had caused a drought.” Beneath was written: “Extreme weather conditions such as flooding, heat waves and storms will become more frequent and intense.”

The second advert read: "Rub a dub dub, three men in a tub — a necessary course of action due to flash flooding caused by climate change.” It was captioned: “Climate change is happening. Temperature and sea levels are rising. Extreme weather events such as storms, floods and heat waves will become more frequent and intense. If we carry on at this rate, life in 25 years could be very different.”

I guess they figured since the current generation figured out man made global warming is a hoax, they better start working on brainwashing the next generation.

Fortunately, the current generation caught them in the act before they could get too far.

Yes, but just because man-made global warming is not real, that does not mean that global warming is not happening. And the things they are warning about could very will still come true, even if it`s due to "natural" global warming, Perhaps they don`t want people panicking and figuring out survival tactics for when the infrastructure falls apart from extreme weather, and thats why they block ads like these. Of course I could still be wrong but why is so much of the emphasis on whether or not the global warming is man made? We are still effed... But if we prepared for it that would work against the depopulation plans talked about so much recently. Again its just speculation but there`s nothing wrong with food for thought.

That's correct. The climate is constantly changing. Always has, always will.

Perhaps. Perhaps "Independence Day" or "Armageddon" or other hollywood hits such as "An Inconvenient Truth" could come true. You can never really rule anything out completely

Well luckily there is very little indication that we will be seeing more extreme weather due to climate change. Any evidence that indicates this is flimsy at best. That's why these ads are misleading. Some people will try to spin things to make it seem as though there's more extreme weather, though.

For instance, some might say that increased insurance claims due to severe weather prove that there is more. However, these people don't take into account the fact that when more and more people move into disaster prone areas, it will consequently mean more people affected. Also, an increase in people purchasing insurance means more claims. This does not show an increase in extreme weather.

Then there are those who blame every drought and flood on AGW, even though a look back in history shows that most of these events are not abnormal, but often occur naturally. However, we do affect our environment in many ways.

The reason is money. If bankers and politicians and well funded scientists can convince people that it is all our fault, then they can profit off it. If they can make it seem more catastrophic, then that's even better. Doesn't mean the climate isn't changing. Just that there may not always be truth to some of the claims made by alarmists (eg. An Inconvenient "9 major flaws" Truth)

This does not mean we are not harming our planet. We are doing this in many ways, too many to list. However, Catastrophic AGW is not a "consensus" and is well and truly up for debate, contrary to what some might claim.

I've never really followed the "depopulation" theories, but I wouldn't completely rule them out either. Because you're right, nothing wrong with food for thought.
