Ties between Israel and US 'worst in 35 years'

news.bbc.co.uk
Israel's ambassador to the US has said that relations between the two countries face their worst crisis for 35 years, the Israeli media reported.

Last week Israeli officials announced the building of 1,600 new homes in occupied East Jerusalem while US Vice-President Joe Biden was visiting.

Since the announcement, Palestinian leaders have said that indirect talks with Israel are now "doubtful".

Previously the Israeli government had played down the strain in relations.

Yes, I already know about the subsidies they get over there from US tax dollars. It's disgusting.

I agree 101% that Mossad is a terrorist organization. They spy on friendly countries, they murder at will in any country without caring about any law in place. It makes me sick.

I feel that the spate of verbal assaults that is going on between Israel and USA is a set up because of the following reasons:

1. If Obama was so upset with the historic snub delivered by the Israelis to Biden on the day of his visit, he could have addressed the issue by giving the Israelis his piece of mind behind closed doors. Instead, the MSM started reporting about how Hillary Clinton scolded Bibi on phone for around 45 minutes. It looks like the leaked details of the diplomatic outburst was meant to convince the audience that a real and an unprecedented fight is going on between Obama and Bibi.

2. By showing his displeasure towards Israel's actions, Obama is trying to distance himself and his administration from the actions (current and future) of the Israeli government. Until now, the rest of the world believed that Israeli and American actions (military or diplomatic) are always coordinated. But thanks to the latest diplomatic fallout (which looks to escalate further), Obama could distance himself from any actions (at least in the crucial initial stages) taken by Israel in future(example: Israel launches a "limited" conflict against Hezbollah that expands to Syria and Iran).

3. The point that I feel is quite strange is the apparent silence in the MSM regarding Iran's nuclear program. A few weeks back, Bibi and his government regularly and explicitly mentioned the need for urgent and crippling sanctions against Iran. But suddenly, there seems to be no progress (token or otherwise)on the diplomatic front against Iran.

4. I feel that the current clashes in West Bank has the potential to escalate into a limited conflict between Hamas and IDF. It remains to be seen as to whether the IDF would then move northwards to engage the Hezbollah as well.

I agree, I don't think its a case of national interests diverging so much as an ideological clash between the leadership. The British government isn't too happy with them over the Falklands issue right now, either. I don't think its particularly serious, but it is interesting that an administration that ran on the prospect of improved foreign ties has struggled quite a bit in that regard, to the point that they've even had trouble keeping allies happy.

The sad thing is that there are Americans who are attacking their own president (however unfavourable his policies) in defence of a foreign, rogue government. The citizens have sold their own patrimony to Zionism. They don't seem care that this will result in ill-will, and has already resulted to such (USS Liberty, Bernie Madoff, and countless other examples).

Since fellow Americans are committed to damning there own selves for the sake of Zionism, the only solution for world peace is for America to be rendered a third world nation incapable of equipping the genocidal, apartheid regime of Zionism. I hurry the Asians to fasten this process. A superpower should not be an inflexible, stubborn, and one-sided entity. I thank all higher powers that play in the destruction of this hegemony.

For all of you stubborn, extremist, evangelic Christians, accept the fact that you got the wrong Hebrews (actually you supported the genocide against the real Hebrews, geniuses), backed the wrong horse, and the only blessing that came out of supporting Israel (a created country, condemned by the faithful of its own adepts) was an unending curse. I hope the curse keeps kicking. I hope thousands of dead Palestinians are whipping up a spiritual battle in the higher realms to end this foolishness. I do not regret the collapse of America, if its means we're only a footstool of Zionism.

You fanatics are ruining this country and should be exiled for treason.
If Americans want to support a rogue state, it doesn't deserve the perks of wealth and prosperity. It deserves itself to be a rogue state.
