Hi, I am sorry, but I am not sure what you mean when you say that I am "paying lip service". (I am Norwegian.) But after reading your post I guess you are not very impressed by it?

Anyway, what makes the whole difference between this man and this woman is the fact that what is going on is actually threatening her LIFE. This woman is stupid, gullible, and yes, perhaps she is willing to die for fame. But that only makes her a moron with some serious self esteem issues. It does not make her evil.

I stand by what I said about the man, watching the woman you "love" eat herself to death, and even encourage and help her to do it because you get sexually aroused by it, IS evil. Nothing will make me change my mind about that, sorry.

(And this has nothing to do with the fact that the "feeder" is a man, if that is what's bothering you. If this was about a women helping her male partner eat himself do death, I would call her evil and perverted too.)

Don't apologise! It's my fault for using an idiom that you're not familiar with. Basically, it means that whilst you appear to be saying something (in this case that you agree the woman is also at fault) but the rest of what you're saying doesn't match-up as the rest of what you say comes down to 'it's the sick, evil, twisted man's fault!'.

Many men allow their partners to increase their risk of cancer through smoking. Many men allow their partners to increase their risk of all kinds of medical problems by general over-eating and an obesity on a much smaller scale than the obesity in this story. Where do you draw the line? At what point is it the partner's fault and at what point is it 'none of his damn business!!!!'

Again though, you've got a very simplistic view of the dynamic of these kinds of relationships. It's not sexual in the way you'd think: there's more of a power dynamic that they both share.

I just checked her, my space page. She quotes her mother, being her hero. I hope her child doesn't have the same view of her. She's also claims to try and understand fat people. Maybe she should try and understand herself first. She says she's just back from Japan and was treated like royalty there. Maybe they mistook her for a sumo wrestler and she got a couple of big macs for free? [sad sarcasm]

I know health care is different in America than that of the UK. I'm just wondering would she have insurance or does the public foot the bill for her ill health. She claims to be a celebrity. Anyone with an IQ bigger than her waist would think she's a freak show. I'm just being honest..

This is an extreme example- but this is why American women have absolutely no appeal to me any more. And I am an American male. The women in this country are insane all in their own ways- this one just happens to have gone right into 'stardom' with her insanity.

It says she can only walk about 20 feet before having to sit down. Not sure if her significant other financially supports her. But it would definitely be wrong if she deliberately disables herself then asks for financial assistance.

I think she's crazy, but I don't think it's really anyone's business and I don't think her kid should be taken just because she's fat and wanting to get fatter.

My maternal grandmother was 4'10 and weighed about 400 pounds. She was SHORT and BIG BIG. She had 9 kids and every one of them did well forthemselves, 2 started companies and became millionaires.
She watched me as a child, though she could not get up except to go to the bathroom, with help.

So we played a LOT of cards - that woman knew every sort of card game there was. We played Monopoly and she taught me old Appalachian folk songs and hoodoo, and taught me about all sorts of things, having to do with how nature worked.

I started school and blew the other kids away with math.

And I was VERY happy, and I loved her very, very much. And I personally grew up NOT hating fat people, because I loved my grandmother, and she was as fat as any.

She died at 66, of liver cancer, having never drank a day in her life.

This "lady" is in serious need of mental help. It said in her article that she claims she's "healthy despite her weight", I have some serious reservations towards that claim.

Also, what kind of example is she setting for her children? Granted, we're too obsessed with being "Barbie" like, but there has to be boundaries?

I think you are all missing what is going on here. There is a certain amount of fame to morbid obesity now. There are so many shows on the morbidly obese. Half ton teen, half ton mom(who died) the show about the institution who does profiles on the morbidly obese. The Biggest Loser.
If this woman is on the net getting money to eat fast food, most likely she is trying to reach a fame status and get her own reality show.

See, when I read news stories like this, or see them on tv, I always expect a little disclaimer at the end of the story.

Haha! I'm actually reading 1984 at this very moment. Just thought I'd take a couple of minutes out to check up on the threads.

This article upsets me. Not only could I stand to loose some weight, and I know it, but I have a good friend who is morbidly obese - she weighs in excess of 450 pounds and is slowly dying of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. If she could even loose 25 or 30 pounds, her doctors would consider her a candidate for bariatric surgery to help her loose even more weight and help stave off death by years. But she both won't and can't do so. Can't in that she is no longer able to walk more than a few feet without respiratory distress, let alone exercise, and won't in the sense that she has tried cutting back on food, cutting out breads and carbohydrates and several other diets and none seem to work for her. She has lived longer than another friend who is a cardiac intensive care nurse thought she would and for that I'm grateful, but to know that neither I nor my 7 year old daughter will have this woman in our lives for very much longer saddens me. So to read that some woman wants to gain weight to be the world's heaviest woman is just beyond belief. I hope that she gets the psychiatric help she seems crying out for.
