"this was no case of divine intervention; on the contrary it was a divine con, but that was the magic of the best grifts, convincing the rubes to believe th impossible. the bigger the lies, the more outrageous the lies, the more desperate the masses were gulled by them, especially if there was a little divinity thrown into the mix."-vampie wars-by steven savile

hello ats have you ever wondered why some christians just don't seem to be in touch with reality? i think the answer is brainwashing. many people will tell you that god exists and they have no doubt in their mind about this, yet they seem odd, they quote scripture very often, they raise there arms up as they woship in a most disturbing manner, all their conversations lead to"how great god is" or, "god will make this or that better" and, their eyes are always wide open when they talk about god or their religion and they speak in mystical overtones. these people are people who maybe were once like you or me but then they became brainwashed by the religious system, the thought is just sickening to me, they give all their money to benny hinn and pray for complete strangers and often aproach people in public and try to "win them over" for "the lord" by reapeatingly stating god is real or cracking open the bible and reading aloud,(i just want to sit down and eat a big mac! if i wanted religion i'd go to church).

i think there is a brainwashing going on indeed on a massive scale it's frightening
also i think that some governments endorse religion because it's basically a system that runs itself, if people aer giving their money to benny hinn well that keeps the economy flowing in some respect. also have you ever heard that the u.s. government only funds sex ed programs that teach abstinence? isn't that a major part of being a young christian?

maybe i am false, then correct me please don't be rude i am mereley sharing my views

now i don't beleive in god but i don't hate someone just because they do, alot of my freinds and family do, i just disagree
i'm not trolling
any thoughts? heres some links on why i don't think god exists

disclaimer-some of it may be offensive to christians

I am a lifelong Christian, and have yet to figure how religion controls me. How would I act differently if I didn't believe in God or talk with Jesus?

Would I cheat on my wife? Maybe not pay taxes? Run red lights when no one is around? Would I be more cynical, ore hard hearted and less trusting?

How does religion control me? I read other books of religion and philosophy to learn and expand my understanding. I have friends and co-workers that are gay and lesbian and we get along fine... I work retail and have to work on Sunday, don't like it but I do...

How? How does religion control me? If I met you and invited you to a dinner at church...would you say No Thank You? I'd say OK, maybe someother time.... and move on.

How? How does religion control me? Would I go out and beat old folks and steal their checks if I didn't believe in God? What would I do differently...

except that I try to be a better person...more understanding, more sympathetic, more forgiving, more generous, that is how I live because of religion...because of Jesus. I try to be a better person...to often I fail, I am just a human, but I try and I believe I am better than I used to be... a work in progress.

So, how does religion not control you? Do you read books or consider ideas that I don't? I don't know...I'm pretty well read and often consider ideas not so traditional. Do you go out and beat old people and steal there checks? How? How does religion not control you....

No, you don't even have to go as far as subliminals flashed on the screen. All you have to do is consider such things as brand loyalty and how companies strive to increase their bottom line by creating such loyalty.

en.wikipedia.org...

Talk about control of the masses? Click that link, read it, spend a couple of hours watching tv while taking notes, and you'll see what I've said in my first post is true.

do you do any of the things i have above posted? then perhaps it does not control you. but then again it just might maybe you don't know it. i din't say that all christians are brainwashed as i said above that "some christians seem out of touch with reality" not the word SOME not ALL. i'm terribly sorry to offend you but it's unavoidable in some cases

No offense taken.... but I still want to know how you are not controled? What do you do as a person free from religion that you otherwise might not do?

I still believe, and it is a shame, that so many have had negative experiences with the so-called "church." There really are some good Chritians out there.
