That's really interesting about the surgical masks...
I'm just curious why that would be the choice instead of a scarf?
Or is a scarf also banned?

Of course the hijab (scarf) isn't banned. They banned burqas because you cant tell their identity for the testing. It could be someone cheating.

They wear the surgical mask as well as the hijab. They do it to cover their face. Many women quit university altogether when they first instituted the ban 2 years ago. Then they figured out that they could wear a surgical mask to still cover most of their face.

Ah, I see. Sorry for the seeming lame question, I just presumed that covering the face could also have been done with the hijab, while in uni. ... Thanks for the explain.

ETA:
While I do not buy the NWO death camp scenario...

There are current bans on wearing hoods/hats and sunglasses in certain areas which would interfere in identification, so the burqua would certainly qualify...

www.smh.com.au...

Naomi Wolfe gives the head nod to the veil

I discovered this book back around 1994 -- excellent analysis of the veil:

www.amazon.com...

Here's her latest:

www.amazon.com...=ntt_at_ep_dpt_3

In this deeply textured philosophical analysis, Mernissi ( The Veil and the Male Elite ), a sociologist in Morocco, argues cogently that Islam has been perverted by Arab leaders who want to deny their people democracy. Mixing personal experience, Arab history, Koranic analysis and cultural references, Mernissi explores Arab fear of the West, the rise of the "media imam," the process by which the concept of freedom "has been tainted with sin" and the loopholes that allow Arab states to be seated in the United Nations without adhering to all its principles. Arab masses sided with Saddam Hussein, she states, mostly due to their anger against the wealthy leaders of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. She argues that the Gulf war, as well as the growth of Arab feminism, will spark demilitarization and democracy. However, Mernissi, a self-described "incurable optimist," offers little hard political analysis and does not examine what precisely the masses mean when they call for democracy.

Go put one on then.
I certainly wont be.
And also the idea that a person can't be found because they're wearing a burqa is ridiculous, unless they plan on going off the grid completely, they could be found.

Soooo... You have no brain where you cannot make your own opinion??? So have you to ask others WITH an opinion???

Hmmmmnn

Maybe women cannot make choices without other womens consent?? No such thing as individualism? No room for that? or go with the crowd coz that is what gets you men after the indoctrination has been there long enough....

I guess Islam has a point then... That women ARE dumb creatures who need guidance?..

I think NOT...

haah -- My former girlfriend moved to Morocco and married a Moroccan -- the link I gave was the book I gave her before she went....

Check it out -- BEYOND THE VEIL -- is an affirmation of the veil for it's deeper feminist reasons.
