Alright, so I'm really sick and tired of being called every name in the book.

Zionist.
Anti-Semite.
Jew Hater.
Nazi.

The list goes on.

I am NOT an anti-semite. Moving forward the alert button will be my best friend. Call me a coward, call me a crybaby I don't care. I will no longer personnaly allow my topics or topics that I am engaged in to devolve into convoluted nonsense. Be advised if you choose to name call, you will be called out.

Those who are critical of Israel and her policies are not ALL anti-semites. I am sure there are those who are, as they exist in the world in substantial numbers I am not defending them in any way.

What I am defending is my right to question a government or a people who continually break international law and create a human rights crisis.

I am opposed to this happening on both sides, be it Palestinian Or Israeli.

Please, stop disrupting meaningfull and intelligent conversation with nonsense. There is NO reason to turn ATS into a poo flinging partisan session of our current Senate.

We are here to deny ignorance and to discuss and hash out the issues at hand. Not to argue amongst ourselves and name call when there are so many more important issues going on in the world today.

So class, let's go over what we've learned.

When somebody says the dislike something Israel has done, don't just the anti-semite gun. Kill 'em with logic and kindness instead. You will only inflame the conversation and derail the thread with name calling.

When somebody does call you out as being an anti-semite, don't worry and don't respond to their acusations. Alert the mods if you feel you have been wrongly targeted and they will take the appropriate action.

Sometimes I honestly think there is a conspiracy by some to make sure that all Israeli topics get derailed an shut down without getting to the point of the original story or an understanding of what is going down in the big picture.

Edit To Add: This thread is NOT intended to be a for or against in regards to Israel, this thread is FOR the continuity of intelligent debate and meaningfull discussion among our members on the topic of Israel.

Who's the blame is irrelevant for what's going on, everybody has blood on their hands. This thread is to discuss the rising problem of name calling and ignorance among those who support and those who do not support Israel in the topics which it comes up.

Kind Regards,

~Keeper

I've used this example before, because it fits.

If it was an French Hit Squad , who did the job in Dubia, we would be talking about them, it wasn't, It was a Israeli Hit Squad, so talking about it became
anti-Semite.

If there was 5 Dancing Finn's arrested on 911, we would be talking about
them, it wasn't, they were 5 Israeli's , so we are anti -Semite for talking
about it.

If it was Irish Jets slaughtering people with White Phosphorous in Gaza, we would be talking about them, it wasn't , so it became anti -Semite to talk about it.

You can start to see a trend here.

And the Deflection used by supporter's of Israel.

I'm not Anti - Semite .

I'm not Blind Either.

Agreed.

The problem however exists on both sides of the fence my friend. We are not the innocent party and neither is the other.

Understandably Israel bring out a lot of emotion. Obviously it's a sensitive topic as many a conspiracy theory mention Israel or Jews in general.

It's the rhetoric and the name calling that is my problem. We can disagree with each other and still have respect in the way that we do it.

When we resort to name calling we fall behind the veil that keeps us all occupied while things go according to plan.

One of my favorite quotes:

When we argue amongst ourselves, the terrorists win.

I have asked several times Mods to enforce strict Moderation equivalent to 9/11 Conspiracy section due to extreme amount of personal attacks etc. on Middle East Issues look at this post and this thread. It's not okay to report every attack on each and every thread since the people usually returns to the thread and do it again and derail the whole thread...so no use of reporting.
Many people are afraid to use Middle East Section for eg. from this thread

That sort of mentality has driven me off of other forums in the past. It seems that in any social situation, people gather into cliques and shun those whom they dislike in a blatantly hostile manner. Let's just hope that the mods in their wisdom do something about them.

IMO there is a lot of this regarding most topics. I rarely participate in the threads you are referring to though.

OK sorry-- haven't read the whole thread and probably won't. The only reason I'm posting is because it's from you guys. I quit the political threads along time ago. Not that there weren't replies and posts of a discussion nature, trying to find those posts in between the mortar fire just became too time consuming. So now maybe the worst has happened and i am bound by my own opinions.....

If people had solid grounds they could have stuck to the topic since their basis s flawed they attack other users or thread authors.

I agree, but beg to differ in other aspects.

I agree that the name calling and the overall sense of arrogance and ignorance in Israeli topics is hurting ATS overall.

A lot of GOOD members stay clearn of the topics even though their input would be invaluable, almost a must.

I disagree that alerting doesn't help. I know personally that whenever I have alerted something, I have gotten a response, in a quick and efficient time frame.

The mods can't help if they don't know what's going on. Yes there could be stricter rules, but it's up to us to enforce the ones that matter.

I have reported many times in past and yes Mod did take action but I feel bad coz' I'm making them do extra work and I feel kinda bad reporting silly stuff as personal attacks thread derailing again and again, we are supposed to be quality posters on this forum and should have maturity level. Once in a while attack can be reported or ignored but when it happens continuously on every thread it's hard to report.

Also you have to think from other person's point of view too how long can you go on reporting ultimately a time will come when any of this scenario is bound to happen:
#1 Scenario: If you report 10 alerts every day Mod's will think oh noes this guy again.. fed up of this guy sending sending reports etc!!
#2 Scenario: If you report 10 alerts every day Mod's will think oh noes this guy again.. maybe he's the problem ban him!!
#3 Scenario: If you report 10 alerts every day Mod's will think oh noes this guy again.. this guy is too sensitive ignore his complaints!!
#4 Scenario: If you report 10 alerts every day Mod's will think oh noes this guy again.. and if you do any mistake, Mods *evil grin* eh' now he reports soo many times, he made a mistake more strict sanction against him ... *Gotcha* ..Ban Hammer!!

So by reporting too many times Mods/Admin. will have bad view of you .

No I alert quite a bit and the mods thank me for it.

I don't alert insignificant things, I report when somebody has broken the T&C purposefully and is derailing a thread.

These things are important and our vigilance helps the site mainting civility and decorum.

Those the mods have a negative view of are the ones that complain and do nothing to help solve the problem.

Alerting

We encourage Members to alert anytime they see a breach of the
Terms and Conditions but understand this please.

In the heat of conversation, what you perceive as a breach, may in fact NOT be one.

Let me explain

When you alert, a post is made that is available to ALL Staff. We review this and when a consensus is reached we either take action, or do not take action; depending on the post.

So all that we ask is that you NOT knee jerk react when alerting; look at the post and if you think, truly think it violates the T&C, definitely alert it.

Then trust us to take it from there.

Also many times we handle things "Behind the Scenes" in that we send a U2U to the Offending Party and try to get them to stop the behavior. So just because you do not SEE any results, does not mean something is not being done.

Again, Trust Us...

I hope this helps

Semper

Edit add>

We would also like to ask that you not go back, days and days ago, to find posts that may breach the aforementioned T&C. If it is several days old and the thread has moved on, we generally like to just let sleeping dogs lie. With the exception of egregious infractions... Definitely alert all of those.
