I hate to be the bearer of bad news my friend, but Florida is a right to work state, which means your employment is at will which means you can be fired for any reason as long as it is legal.

If your manager knows more about the job functions than you do, trust me when I tell you that he WILL find a way to fire you legally if he wants to.

He told you that if he finds you on that web site again he will fire you? Well, don't let him find you on this website again. Isn't there some kind of privacy screen you can buy for a laptop so other people can't see what you're doing on the computer? Find out what what his interests are, go on websites that reflect those interests, minimize the page[s], then pull up a REAL website like ATS. If he comes around again, pull a bait and switch 'till he leaves again.

There's more than 1 way to skin a cat.

Peace

I know Win Dixie takes out life insurance on their employees and when they die they cash in on them.

may i recommend a book for you "The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists" by Robert Tressell. It may help you understand the conditions in which you work and why you feel powerless to change them.

You know have have only recently heard of this practice. Not to go to far off topic but have you considered taking out a life insurance policy on the CEOs of Win Dixie? Turn about being fair play right? If your death should benefit them should not their unfortunate passing benefit you? Just some food for thought for that dead peasant policy.

Florida Employment Law

Employment at Will

Under Florida law, employment contracts which do not specify a definite term of employment are terminable "at will." In other words, an employee can quit or be fired at anytime for any reason, other than those proscribed by law (e.g., race, sex, handicap, age, etc.). Recently, some plaintiffs have challenged Florida's at will policy, arguing that the employer's personnel handbook laid out a termination procedure requiring good reason or cause. The courts, however, have largely resisted these arguments and continue to view most employment contracts without a definite term of employment as terminable by either party at their discretion.

Employment contracts which specify a definite term of employment are not terminable at will. Instead, both parties must abide by the terms of the agreement, otherwise they may be subject to a breach of contract lawsuit.
