Hello all, I am certain if you are reading this thread, you have no doubt read the recent threads about bad police officers. I live in Ohio, and I think one of these threads mentioned Ohio cops. Well, today, our van popped, and stopped. Failed ignition coil, 5 miles from home, my wife just had back surgery, fusion and fixation of three lower lumbar. She can barely walk. We have two little boys, and we had just bought groceries. Thankfully my son was along, between us the diagnosis came pretty fast. We are sitting there, contemplating a 6 mile walk home with groceries. Just then a Highway Patrol car went by, turned around and came back to us. Two of them got out. Really nice guys, both. Asked what can we do you help you, sir? I respectively told them about my wife, and if they would be so kind as to call a roll-off for the van, and take my wife and sons home. The one said no, against the rules, which I knew it was. They quickly had a pow wow, and told me they would be happy to take my family home, groceries and all. We all got home all right. Really nice guys they were, and my hat is off to both of them. The main one told me he sometimes frequented ATS, and I told him I would be making a post about what they did for us. Well, fellows, here it is, keep up the good work. You both deserve a round of applause.

You should get their names and send a letter of praise to their boss. I wouldn't mention the ride.

I have always said that there are some very good cops out there who truly want to help the public. Unfortunately a few bad apples hurt the good ones.

What Jam321 said. Get their names and send a "thank you" letter to their supervisor. You don't have to mention the ride, just say they were there and lent a hand.

Oh cmon...you sure they weren't pigs? Sure they didn't taze your wife and smack around your kids, while stepping on your neck? They must of given you a ticket for SOMETHING right? There is no way these nazi's gave your family a ride, broke their policy and acted like normal humans. No way...cops are not human, they are scum, bottom feeders, outright liars and cheats, NEVER would they help anyone in need....this floors me.

They forced you at gunpoint to say these nice things about them didn't they? Or they said if you post something nice and they read it, they will drop all those charges against you that they found...damn those pigs.






This kinda thing happens EVERYDAY. We are ALWAYS giving rides, helping people when we can. Granted sometimes we cannot stop because we are on our way to a call or to back someone up, but believe you me, most people don't think about that. They only think the "pig" just drove by. I am glad you got helped and the troopers made the right choice...even if it was against policy. Not to mention, its nice to see a fellow ATS member give kudos, not just feed the hate monster.

Thanks for sharing. I will never understand people labeling ALL cops as bad. I have tons of friends that are cops and they all behave with upmost respect with strong morals.

Just like there are bad teachers - that doesnt mean ALL teachers are bad Same goes for cops.

Like I have said before, Police come in only two flavors...Peace Officers, and Policy Enforcers. Policy Enforcers get no respect from me, and most get a lecture on what they did wrong, and an offer, by me, to arrest me, so I can get them on the stand. I already called the State Police Post, and told the desk sergeant what these guys did for us.

I think most cops are great, and this is a good story. However, my buddy went to chiropractic school in Ohio. Apparently they dont take to kind to California kids out there....Someone was picking on him in a bar, and he ended up getting in a fight. Cops came...took my buddy to a field and beat his a$$, put him in the hospital. That was a total bummer.

Just relaying an experience...Again, I have no problem with cops, just thought I would share.

I am of the opinion that if someone is going to execute the law that they should know it better than anyone. Which is a large part of the problem, do most Officers understand that they may be just enforcing commercial code?

Which usually they do not, and since the dictum of "ignorance of the Law is no excuse," tends to be thrown around a lot, many would jump at the oppurtunity to slam a Police Officer...

But...

Police Officers are being socialized by the same system that reared us.

Police Officers are not our enemies, this Government De Facto is.

I guess I have never seen you on here before my friend, so my SARCASM didn't come off the way it should of. I am a LEO, have been for 9 years now and you'll see me in here alot posting on threads about LEO's and other stuff.

The first part of my post was basically mimicing some of ATS truly wonderful minds and repeating all I have heard them say over the past few months. In reality most of us know there are far more good cops then bad, but the bad ones get all the attention...for good reason, but it was nice to see a member post something positive. I am just shocked no haters came on so far to figure out some way to bas the two Troppers that aided you.

Anyway, I m sorry you misread what I wrote, and since you aren't familiar with me, you wouldn't of know I was making fun of other members...

Also to THICHHEADED...Thanks, I think...lol. I know you got me confused with SemperFortis alittle, but I will take that as a compliment. He is the one with the video responses. I am of course a "cool guy" so i'll imagne you are talking about me somewhat....
