This just doesn't seem right to me.

I never thought I'd see the Girl Scouts promoting something like this. At a UN conference on the Status of Women, the Girl Scouts, along with Planned Parenthood presented a sex guide titled "Happy, Healthy and Hot" which encourages HIV positive girls to conceal their HIV status from their partners.

Am I the only one who has a problem with the Girl Scouts promoting something with the title "Happy Healthy and Hot"?

Girl Scouts Distribute Planned Parenthood Sex Guide at UN Meeting

(NEW YORK – C-FAM) The World Association of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides hosted a no-adults-welcome panel at the United Nations this week where Planned Parenthood was allowed to distribute a brochure entitled “Healthy, Happy and Hot.” The event was part of the annual United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) which concludes this week.

The brochure, aimed at young people living with HIV, contains explicit and graphic details on sex, as well as the promotion of casual sex in many forms. The brochure claims, “Many people think sex is just about vaginal or anal intercourse… But, there are lots of different ways to have sex and lots of different types of sex. There is no right or wrong way to have sex. Just have fun, explore and be yourself!” The brochure goes on to encourage young people to “Improve your sex life by getting to know your own body. Play with yourself! Masturbation is a great way to find out more about your body and what you find sexually stimulating. Mix things up by using different kinds of touch from very soft to hard. Talk about or act out your fantasies. Talk dirty to them.”

The brochure also tells students that national laws requiring HIV-positive people to reveal their status to their partner(s) “violate the rights of people living with HIV” and calls for advocacy to “change laws that violate your rights.” It explains, “There are many reasons that people do not share their HIV status. … They may worry that people will find out something else they have kept secret, like they are using injecting drugs, having sex outside of a marriage or having sex with people of the same gender.”

I always thought the Girl Scouts were a wholesome family-oriented organization. I didn't know they had been taken over by the militant feminists.

After reading this, I'm definitely having second thoughts about allowing my girls to join.

WOW! I read this .pdf file and I am extremely concerned . . . and a little aroused! It goes into specific detail about the location of the clitoris and prostate and labia. It talks about masturbation, and licking and petting. If I had a daughter of Girl Scout age that brought home this brochure, somebody would definitely get beat up!

I did not see anything wrong about it except for the part about having a "right" not to disclose one's HIV+ status to sexual partners. If somebody has HIV or any other STD, they should disclose that to somebody they are going to have sexual contact with. Countries that criminalize failing to disclose HIV+ status are in the right on this one.

People want to have sex.

People do not stop having sex because they have a disease.

Even if you want them too.

Promoting that they explore avenues where they are less likely to kill people while doing so is merely sensible.

However, I utterly disagree with non-disclosure.

HIV is the least offensive thing in this brochure. Maybe at a College Clinic, or inside a Planned Parenthood, but to have Girl Scout involvement is ridiculous!

OMGG!! I can't believe that brochure. These people should be held criminally liable for this stuff.

I'm at a total loss for words... I really can't believe this.

For ONCE I hope O'Reilly, Beck, and all the other shills JUMP on this and make the whole nation up in arms. These people should be sent to prison, but to a solitary confinement so they don't spread HIV when they are raped.

Now that HIV is highly treatable, giving HIV to somebody is not homicide. In many jurisdictions, failing to disclose your HIV status is a form of criminal and tortious battery.

thats nifty then I thought that concealing AIDS was some how criminal I just wasnt sure to what extent, I wonder if there is some kind of online dating community for people that are already infected and open about their acquired immune deficiency like an e-harmony for them (just a thought)

It will be homicide when they are murdered by a pissed off partner.... I would kill some dumb coont who failed to tell me, just cause she wanted to get laid. If she wants it that bad, she can go on craigslist and find someone else with HIV to get her rocks off.

This is sick and depraved. Girl scouts should be ashamed, and I hope there is serious backlash.

lol there's people out there who only allow their children to marry within their community, for just such a reason as this. they encourage their kids to show self-restraint.

to me, this sounds like the UN hoping the rest of the western world will self-implode out of inability to control their lust, thus proving that hardline fundamentalism is the only way to live. it can never be sensible. it has to be one extreme or the other.

In either case it is wrong to hide it from your partner.

You mention it like it’s just a sexual matter, while the STDs are some of those men or women didn’t get HIV from anyone. There’s a lot of people in the US and Canada who were born with it because their mother was positive.

...the article is from the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute - not an objective source by any stretch of the imagination...

...there is nothing abhorent about the brochure - except the reason why its necessary in the first place - and that is - groups like CF who spread their mental disease incessantly, encouraging others to "get off" by sticking their nose in everyone else's sexual behavior and attempting to dictate what others can do with their body...

...as for the non-disclosure of a std with intimates, it happens all the time even among the hypercritical holier than thou bunch... if society wasnt so consumed with pretending that sex is something to be controlled by religious and/or governmental institutions, there would be no need to reach out to people who feel disenfrancised by the oxymoronic moral-majority...

...there are a lot of good decent people who have hiv or herpes or other std and, like it or not, they have a right to a full life and that includes feeling good about themselves and enjoying SEX... i applaud the brochure and the girl scouts - good on them...

They pretty much get the same message from tv, music, and magazines. Sex is everywhere in our society. I would be amazed that any 6th grader who wasn't isolated in a religious compound didn't know about sex today.

Parents like to think their kids are little angels, but they aren't.
